Minnesota Apology Resolution for abuse of Indigenous People

Minnesota Representative Dean Urdahl expects to offer an Apology Resolution (reconciliation bill) that apologizes for the mistreatment and exploitation of Minnesota's indigenous people?

Urdahl recently informed me that he will work with me along with others and try to find wording that will work. And that when he believes the wording will work, he will introduce the resolution.
I am an indigenous people's rights activist who wrote a draft bill to change Minnesota's 14 derogatory geographic place names that are offensive to Indians and then sent it to Rep. Mike Jaros, who then introduced it. And did so, after I addressed the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council and received the council's approval for him to introduce the bill.

After Jaros retired, Rep. Urdahl decided to modify and sponsor the name-changing bill. Rep. Urdahl is in real good standings with the Dakota (Sioux) tribal leaders. He asked the federal government to repeal the Indian Removal Act which banded exiled Dakota Indians from Minnesota. He recently spoke to the tribal leaders of several different Dakota bands who came to this year's Winona, Minnesota annual "Great Dakota Gathering and Homecoming".

A year ago, the Winona Daily News published a letter of mine, titled, State looks to settle up with the past. Excerpts from the letter read:

" Leonard Wabasha, a hereditary chief of the Dakota and director of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux (Dakota) Community Cultural Resource Department, invited me to address the Dakota tribal leaders and government officials during the May 16 reconciliatory ceremony in Winona."

"The Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission has acknowledged that Minnesota committed ethnocide and genocide against American Indians during its early history."

"Minnesotans pride themselves today on living in a state that is forward-thinking and compassionate. We have become a haven for refugees from countries where genocide still occurs. We recoil at the holocausts of World War I and II, and the more recent acts of savagery in Eastern Europe and the Middle East."

"Yet we remain either unaware of or unable to look at our own history and acknowledge the painful wounds of ethnocide and genocide right here in Minnesota. We have a very hard time acknowledging that the pain remains and that it has affected much of our history through to the present day." (ref.)

In respect to the wording of the reconciliation bill, I would like the bill to include wording as to where the source of the racism that caused Minnesota to commit "ethnocide and genocide" against its aboriginal natives came from.

In a first-of-its-kind action in the Christian world, the national Episcopal Church - during a July, 2009 convention - passed a landmark resolution reputiating the Doctrine of Discovery. The resolution identifies where, both, the source of the racism against U.S. indigenous people came from during our nation's early history, as well as where it is still coming from, the Doctrine of Discovery. On October 13, 2008, the World Conservation Conference of the International Union for Conservation of Nature acknowledged, in a motion, a connection between the colonization of Indigenous Peoples' lands, which was sanctioned by the Doctrine of Discovery, a doctrine based on a series of 15th century Vatican papal decrees that were official authorizations to "invade, capture, vanquish" and "subdue" Indigenous Peoples, "subjugate" them and "reduce their persons to perpetual slavery" and "to take away all their possessions and property". "The origins of the Doctrine of Discovery can be traced to Pope Nicholas V's issuance of the papal bull [Romanus Pontifex] in 1452. The bull allowed Portugal to claim the conquer lands in West Africa. Pope Alexander VI extended to Spain the right to conquer newly-found indigenous peoples' lands in 1493, with the papal bull [Inter Caetera], after Christopher Columbus had already begun doing so." The Doctrine of Discovery was a principle of international law developed in a series of 15th century papal bulls and 16th century charters by European monarchs. It was essentially a racist philosophy that gave white Christian Europeans the green light to go forth and claim the lands and resources of non-Christian peoples and kill or enslave them - if other Christian Europeans had not already done so."

The national Episcopal Church's recent landmark resolution not only repudiates the Doctrine of Discovery, it also urges the U.S. government to endorse the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples."

"Steven Newcomb's work on the Doctrine of Discovery in his many essays and his 2008 book "Pagans in the Promise Land" is the spark that ignited individuals in the Episcopal Church to pursue the resolution."

Indigenous Peoples Literature posts articles of mine about Indigenous Peoples' rights. Two internationally renowned Indigenous activists [Steven Newcomb and Tony Castanha] who are in the forefront of the movement to influence the Pope to revoke the 15th century Papal bull [Inter Caetera], a bull that is the source of the past and present-day harmful racism against indigenous people in the Western Hemisphere, correspond with me and have mentioned that I have written "good articles" on this topic. According to Steven Newcomb, the United Nations Declaration On The Rights Of Indigenous People is a declaration that had to be written and passed because of a series of 15th century papal bulls that denied Indigenous Peoples their fundamental human rights. (ref.)

A United Nations World Conference Against Racism document identifies the Doctrine of Discovery, or a series of 15th century papal bulls, as being the source of past and present-day racism against Indigenous Peoples. (ref.)

During the 1993 UN Parliament of World Religions, 60 indigenous delegates wrote a Declaration of Vision asking the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church to revoke the 15th century papal bull [Inter Caetera], a bull that is at the heart of the Doctrine of Discovery, so that Indigenous People in the Western Hemisphere can regain their fundamental human rights.

"It reads, in part: 'We call upon the people of conscience in the Roman Catholic hierarchy to persuade Pope John II to formally revoke the Inter Caetera Bull of May 4, 1493, which will restore our fundamental human rights. That papal document called for our Nations and Peoples to be subjugated so the Christian Empire and its doctrines would be propagated. The U.S. Supreme Court ruling Johnson vs. McIntosh (in 1823) adopted the same principle of subjugation expressed in the Inter Caetera Bull. This papal bull has been, and continues to be, devastating to our religions, our cultures, and the survival of our populations.'" (ref.)

Johnson v. M'Intosh, held that because of the Doctrine of Discovery American Indians have a mere right of occupancy to their lands. The racist ruling is foundational to federal Indian law. (ref.)

Dieffenbacher- Krall, the executive director of the Maine Indian Tribal State Commission and originator of the national Episcopal Church's resolution movement, said the ultimate goal is to overturn Johnson v. M'Intosh, and dismantle Congress' claim to plenary power over Indian nations. (ref.)

In February 1999, the United Church of Christ, Hawai'i Conference, passed a resolution calling upon people of conscience in the Roman Catholic hierarchy and in other organized religions to persuade the Pope to revoke the 1493 papal bull Inter Caetera. (ref.)

On August 4, 2006, there was a gathering of Indian nations and people from North and South America at Mato Paha (Bear Butte). They issued a call to the Vatican and the Queen of England to rescind the Doctrine of Discovery inspired papal bulls of 1493 and the English royal charter of 1496 that alleged to create legal rights for Europeans over the lands and peoples of the Americas. On October 26, 2007, Maine Episcopalians passed a resolution at their annual convention calling for Queen Elizabeth and the Archbishop of Canterbury "to disavow and rescind the claimed validity of the doctrine of discovery against all peoples, specifically as it is set forth in the 1496 Royal Charter granted to John Cabot and his sons by King Henry VII, and all other doctrines that have been relied thereon for the dispossession of lands and the subjugation of non-Christian peoples from their initial use to the present." I have an online draft Minnesota Apology Resolution that apologizes for the mistreatment and exploitation of Minnesota's indigenous people. It includes information about the papal bull [Inter Caetera] and how it has caused a lot of grief for Minnesota's indigenous people, as well as for all indigenous people in the U.S.

My Minnesota Indian Affairs Council draft resolution, which the MIAC council asked me the write, asks the MN legislature to pass the bill to change MN's derogatory names, it identifies the source of the racism associated with why Minnesota has derogatory names that are offensive to Indians, the 15th century papal bull [Inter Caetera]. On April 30, 2009, U.S. Senator Sam Brownback re-introduced the Native American Apology Resolution, which offers an apology from the United States government to American Indians. Brownback said: "While we cannot erase the past, it is time for us to heal past wounds. We should acknowledge previous failures, express sincere regrets, and work toward establishing a brighter future for all Americans."

Colorado is the first state to admit genocide against our nation's indigenous peoples. The Colorado Legislature passed a resolution April 30, 2008, comparing the deaths of millions of Native Americans to the Holocaust and other acts of genocide around the world. (ref.)

My Roman Catholic bishop, Bishop John Kinney, Archbishop John Nienstedt, Archbishop Harry Flynn and Chris Liefeld, the Executive Director for the Minnesota Catholic Conference correspond with me. They are fully aware of all of my indigenous peoples rights activist initiatives, including my draft Minnesota Apology Resolution, and we are on good terms. I believe that our state will be the first state to pass an apology resolution that identifies the Doctrine of Discovery or the Papal bull [Inter Caetera] as being the source of the harmful racism against U.S. indigenous peoples. When Mike Jaros was a MN representative, he expected to offer a Minnesota Apology Resolution for the mistreatment and exploitation of MN's Indians. At the time, I discovered that a big door of opportunity opened up. I began contacting the bishops of Minnesota Christian Churches and also leaders of Christian organizations - such as the director of the Minnesota Council of Churches and the director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, etc. - in order to ask them if they would like to write apology letters to apologize for their church's or their Christian organization's (or for the Christian religion's) ties to the mistreatment and exploitation of our state's and nation's Indigenous People. An apology letters that would be introduced with the Minnesota Apology Resolution or reconciliation resolution. After doing so, I received a lot of positive response e-mails and letters. I will contact these Christian leaders again and request that they write apology letters to go long with Rep. Urdahl's 2009 Minnesota Apology Resolution. (ref.)

Because of the Doctrine of Discovery and the 1823 U.S. Supreme court ruling [Johnson vs. McIntosh], a ruling based on the Doctrine of Discovery's principle that calls for the subjugation of Indigenous Peoples, Minnesota's Indigenous Peoples, as well as all of our nation's Indigenous Peoples our still living in a racist subjugated state of existence.

Because present-day Indigenous Peoples' ancestors were not Christians at the time of their [discovery] by white European Christians, they, according to U.S. federal Indian law, still can not be granted absolute ownership of their ancestral homelands, nor can they be granted full independent sovereign nations status and rights.

These fundamental human rights of theirs are still being denied them, and this causes many Indigenous People to experience low self esteem, which subsequently causes depression, anxiety disorders, alcohol and drug abuse problems, lack of incentive to work and provide for themselves, their families and tribes. Hence many experience poverty and serious health problems that end with death. And this amounts to a slow genocidal process that continues to plaque Indigenous peoples to this present day.

I hope that the readers of this article will become aware that here in America a great awakening is occurring that is similar to the awakening that the Germans experienced after World War II: an awakening to their criminal nature and behavior. America is awakening to its terrible crimes against humanity, to its need for radical repentance and to its need to offer restitution justice to the Indigenous People it has so radically abused.

Changing Offensive Names And Associated Mission

My international movement to rename Minnesota's Rum River is steadily gaining more and more support. Recently, several Minnesota legislators sent me letters wherein they thanked me for the work that I am doing to change this river's derogatory name. I have also received letters from both U.S. Senator Mark Dayton as well as from U.S. Congressman James Oberstar. They have been giving and offering me assistance.

One of Minnesota's state legislators has given his support and some of the other Minnesota legislators who I have received letters from are interested in possibly sponsoring a purposed state bill that I wrote and have displayed on my website. If a legislator or legislators would decide to sponsor this purposed bill and the legislators passed it 13 of Minnesota's geographic place names that are derogatory and offensive to Native Americans would be replaced. Including, the Rum River, West Branch Rum River, Redskin Lake, Cut foot Sioux Lake, Sioux River, Sioux Lake, Little Sioux Lake, Indian Sioux River, East Savage Lake, Savage Lake, Snake River, Devil Track Lake and Devil Track River.

UPDATE: With the approval of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council (MIAC) Rep. Mike Jaros introduced the bill to the Minnesota legislature. Also, the MIAC asked me to write and send it a MIAC draft resolution asking the Minnesota Legislature to past the bill, which I did. And after sending it to the contact person for the Dakota-Lakota-Nakota Human Rights Advocacy Coalition [Alfred Bone Shirt] he posted it on his organization's Yahoo group site. ref. .

According to the Minnesota Historical Society's website: "The name of Rum River, which Carver in 1766 and Pike in 1805 found in use by English-speaking fur traders, was indirectly derived from the Dakota. Their name of Mille Lacs, Mde Wakan, translated Spirit Lake, was given to its river but was changed by the white men to the most common spirituous liquor brought into the Northwest, rum, which brought misery and ruin, as Du Luth observed of brandy, to many of the Indians. The map of Maj. Stephen H. Long's expedition in 1823 has these names, Spirit Lake and Rum River. Nicollet's map, published in 1843, has "Iskode Wabo or Rum R.," this name given by the Ojibwe but derived by them from the white men's perversion of the ancient Dakota name Wakan, being in more exact translation "Spirit Water."

Because rum "brought misery and ruin to many of the Indians" and also because it is the common belief that the name (Rum) is a faulty-translation of the sacred Dakota name for the river (Wakan), translated as (Great) Spirit, I therefore believe that this river's white man name (Rum) is profane, derogatory and offensive to Native Americans and should therefore be changed back to its sacred Dakota name, as do also a growing number of Dakota Indians as well as Indians of many other tribes.

Now-a-days, all across our county, "Redskin", and "Savage" are considered derogatory names for Native Americans. And the name Sioux for the Dakota people is an derogatory and offensive name. According to the Minnesota Historical Society's website: "The Little and Big Sioux Rivers, the latter forming the northwest boundary of Iowa, were named for the Dakota or Sioux, who inhabited this region. The name Sioux is the terminal part of Nadouesioux, a term of hatred, meaning snakes or enemies, which was applied by the Ojibwe and other Algonquians to this people."

And according to the Minnesota Historical Society's website: "Devil Track River, wrote Gilfillan, "...is Manido bimadagakowini zibi, meaning the spirits (or God) walking-place-on-the-ice river." The Ojibwe applied this name primarily to Devil Track Lake, and thence, according to their custom, to the out-flowing river. The name implies mystery or something supernatural about the lake and its winter covering of ice, but without the supremely evil idea that is given in the white men's translation."

Therefore, I believe that our state's names for Devil Track Lake and Devil Track River are names that are derogatory and offensive to the Ojibwe. I would like these names changed to Manido Track Lake and Manido Track River. Manido translates as Great Spirit or God.

On September 27, I met with Christopher Leifeld, the executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference. The MCC is the public policy voice of Minnesota's Catholic bishops. The MCC sometimes helps legislators author bills, plus it also gives its support for some bills. I recently had received a letter from Archbishop Harry Flynn wherein he thanked me for my update letter on my "Catholic social activist ministry to rename the Rum River and ossociated visionary ministry". Therefore, during our meeting, we talked about my "associated visionary ministry" for about a half hour. At the time, I mentioned that a secretary Bishop of the Vatican's Pontifical Council on Peace and Justice had sent me a letter wherein he let me know that the council had "taken note" of my letter about my "campaign" to rename the Rum River and "associated material". The "associated material" was about my "associated visionary ministry".

And after South Dakota's 2003 Hall of Fame winner (Rev. Stanislaus Maudlin) read my Mille Lacs Messenger letter concerning my Catholic social activist ministry to rename the Rum River and associated visionary ministry, he sent me an e-mail asking that I add his name to my list of people who support the effort to change the Rum River's name. Rev. Maudlin is the abbot of Blue Cloud Abbet (BCA) and founder and executive director of BCA's American Indian Research Center. And Rev. Maudlin is also a prominent leader of the Tekakwitha Conference, a Catholic American Indian organization representing hundreds of tribes. And he is in constant correspondence with the Vatican Commission on Traditional Religions. During the 1983 Tekakwitha Conference, Rev. Maudlin addressed a large group of conference participants and said "there is a whole world view behind the word wakan".

And after two nationally renowned American Indian activists, Christine Rose and Mike Graham, read my Mille Lacs Messenger letter concerning my Catholic social activist ministry to rename the Rum River and associated visionary ministry, they sent me e-mails wherein they both thanked me for sending them the "press release" " as well as asked me to "keep up the good work".

As previously mentioned, the sacred Dakota name for the currently name Rum River (Wakan) was desecrated by a faulty translation name (Rum) by white men in the late 1800's. They translated Wakan, correctly translated as (Great) Spirit, to mean a spirituous liquor (rum).

The Dakota people are used to portray all Indians in Hollywood, anyone wanting to see a "real Indian" wants to see a war bonnet and a tipi. Therefore, I believe that the world psychic views all Indians as Dakota (or Dakota/Lakota/Nakota) people; and that when people watch the traditional Hollywood movies about Indians they often hear the Dakota using the word wakan (sacred), or the combined words Wakan-Tonka (Spirit-Great). Hence, a lot of people around the world believe that the word wakan and the name Wakan-Tonka are used by all Indians. Stephen Gaskin, an internationally renowned youth of the 1960s hippie countercultural leader, a leader of a 250 member countercultural community, and Green Party candidate for President in the year 2000 once wrote: "The word wakan has a strong and universal concept and people all around the world know something about it."

Note: Wakan, sometimes spelled Wahkon, is the traditional Dakota name for the Great Spirit.Wakantonka, sometimes spelled Wahkontonka, is the Dakota's new name for the Great Spirit. The word wakan means holy or sacred, it is also sometimes spelled wahkon.

The traditional Dakota name for the Great Spirit (Wakan) is sometimes spelled Wahkon, as is the city of Wahkon, Minnesota, a city located on the south end of Mille Lacs Lake. Wahkon is where both the Rum River Name Change Organization's headquarters are located and where my--world view around the word wahkon--globalization visionary mission's headquarters are located.

I went to the 1983 Tekakwitha Conference with a combined youth of the 1960s counter-cultural and Catholic--world view around the word wahkon--globalization visionary mission. And a short while after Rev. Maudlin addressed this conference and said "there is a whole word view around the word wahkon", I was interviewed by Matthew Fox, the conference's keynote speaker and international leader of the Catholic Church's globalization movement to unite humanity within a single united global culture, a culture made up of the best of the past of all the world's different cultures and traditions.

During the interview, Fox told me that Thomas Merton, an internationally renowned Catholic monk and author who's books were popular amongst the 1960s youth counter-cultural revolutionaries, had asked him to reach out to the youth of the 1960s counter-cultural revolution with the intent to help them find the truth and live holy lives. And then Fox asked me, a youth of the 1960s counter-cultural revolutionary, what I thought about this connection with Thomas Merton, I responded by telling him about my strongly influenced by Merton--world view around the word wahkon--Catholic and counter-cultural globalization movement to unite humanity within a single united global culture, a culture made up of the past of the past of all the world's different cultures and traditions, a culture that would be wahkon (sacred), or predominately permeated with the culture(s) of the aboriginal people of the Americas. And near the end of the interview, Fox asked me to keep in touch with him, so as to keep him informed about the progress of my Catholic and counter-cultural globalization mission. And a couple of years ago, Fox sent me a letter wherein he expressed his support for the effort to change the Rum River name.

And during the 1984 Mr. & Mrs. I. C. Rainbow family reunion, my uncle Don Rainbow, a vice president of a Christian college, addressed the seventeen families gathered at that Rainbow family reunion and said: " A Rainbow is a sign of God's salvation plan and I believe that we may be used to glorify God more than any other family in the world." He made this very grandiose statement after I spoke to him about my vision of our family coming together in kinship tribalism in order to promote the tribal way and to also promote my Catholic expression of the counterculture's--world view around the word wahkon --globalization mission.

Years later, I met and became friends with Chris McCloud, an internationally renowned song writer who in the 1960s socialized with Paul McCarthy and other internationally renowned countercultural leaders. When McCloud was socializing with McCarthy he was of the--strongly influenced by Thomas Merton--Catholic expression of the counterculture's world unifying globalization movement.

In the 1960s, I met and became friends with Richard Carter. Carter was a San Francisco Bay area leader of the countercultural revolution and he occasionally met with Stephen Gaskin. When Gaskin and his commune moved to Summertown Tennessee, Richard Carter, his wife (Louis) and I moved to Wahkon, Minnesota. Currently, Richard Carter is a binationally renowned environmentalist. And the headquarters of my--world view around the word wahkon--visionary mission are located in Wahkon, Minnesota U.S.A..

On December 19, 2008 - the following letter to the editor of mine was published in the Anoka County Union, a Minnesota county newspaper. The population of Anoka County is 320,803 and its county seat is located in Anoka, Minnesota, a city located at the confluence of the 'Rum' and Mississippi rivers.

In an article published in Indian Country Today, the world's leading American Indian news source, titled - Newcomb: World Conservation Congress endorses Declaration there are two statements that I would like to share with Anoka County Union readers.

With the passage of the document, "Implementing the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples," the WCC also acknowledges a connection between the colonization of Indigenous Peoples' lands and territories and several Vatican papal decrees and other similar documents from the fifteenth and later centuries. The motion explains that these were official authorizations to "invade, capture, vanquish" and "subdue" Indigenous Peoples, "subjugate" them and "reduce their persons to perpetual slavery" and "to take away all their possessions and property."

The motion acknowledges that the effect of these authorizations, and the doctrines that followed from them, such as the "doctrine of discovery," "terra nullius" and "terra nullus," not only have been ecologically and culturally destructive for Indigenous Peoples, their lands, territories and resources, but also made passage of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples necessary. source

Also, Tony Castanha contacted me and said, in responce to an article of mine titled Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations, "this is a very good article".

And after sending Paul Gorski, a nationally and internationally renowned multicultural educator and social activist, my article Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations for publication on his MultiCultural Pavilion website's MCP digest e-mail forum, he posted my article. And then, after the Program Manager for the National MultiCultural Institute [Amy Kasi] read my article on the MCP digest she contacted me and asked if I would allow the National Multicultural Institute (NMCI) to post a quoted tidbit of mine and link to my Indigenous Peoples Literature article Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations in the National MultiCultural Institute's upcoming 2008 October newsletter. I said YES, and it was recently post on the NMCI's October newsletter. It was THE article posted on the newsletter's October SPOTLIGHT display.

When requesting permission to display my article in the NMCI newsletter, Amy Kasi wrote: "I think it would be a valuable resource for anyone interested in not only indigenous peoples but also the history of the US and human rights violations in the US." NMCI sends out monthly newsletters to a network of almost 3500 members.

The effort to change the faulty-translation and profane name of the Rum River has received support from organizations and individuals. Some of them include: two Mdewakanton Dakota Communities, Cankdeska Cikana Community College, the Tekakwitha Conference - a Catholic Native American organization representing hundreds of tribes -, the UN Secretariat of the Permanent Forum On Indigenous Issues, the National Environmental Coalition of Native Americans, Joe Day - both the Executive Director of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council as well as President of the Governor's Interstate Indian Council - , Russell Means - an internationally renowned American Indian activist -, Charles E. Trimble - an international renowned Native American activist. Mike Graham - a nationally renowned Native American activist -, Christine Rose - a nationally renowned Native American activist -, Archbishop Harry Flynn of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and St. Paul, Bishop John Kinney of the Diocese of Saint Cloud, Rev. Stan Maudlin - a prominent leader of the international Tekakwitha Conference, abbot of Blue Cloud Abbey and founder and Executive Director of American Indian Research Center. American Indian Cultural Research Center at South Dakota's Blue Cloud Abbey, Matthew Fox - an internationally renowned Christian theologian, environmentalist, indigenous rights activist and founder of Wisdom University. Wisdom University, Pax Christi USA, and many other organizations and prominent people. And thirty pastors of Christian churches located along the "Rum" River corridor. In the process soliciting support for the effort to change the Rum River name, I have found that there is almost unanimous support for the effort to change the name by Christian ministers.

The National Catholic Reporter (NCR) published a letter of mine about my effort to change the faulty-translation and profane name of Minnesota's Rum River back to its sacred Dakota (Sioux) name Wakan, which is sometimes spelled Wahkon. NCR is a news weekly that reports news about global peace and justice issues. It has over 120,000 loyal readers in 96 countries. The NCR describes me as a "Catholic social activist". And I am also being described as a Catholic visionary prophet with a world view around the word wahkon. I sent a letter about these two associated missions of mine to the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, and I recieved a responce letter from the council's secretary [Bishop Giampaola Crepaldi], wherein he wrote: "The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace" has taken note of your campaign (Rum River name-change campaign) and the associated material you sent with your letter." The associated material was about my prophetic visionary mission with a world view around the word wahkon, including a list of my prophetic credentials.

In some circles that promote a single global culture, a culture made up of the best of the past of all the world's different peoples' cultures and traditions, a culture wherein humanity will hopefully be united, the culture of the indigenous people of the Americas is believed to be the most valuable culture. And I also believe that the culture of the indigenous people of the Americans is the most valuable culture. Therefore, I am in the process of getting a group of people together who believe in my visionary mission, and then we will incorporate many aspect of the indigenous people of the Americans culture into our expression of a single united global culture, making our culture a culture that is predominantly permeated permeated with the culture(s) of the indigenous people of the Americas. And I believe our future (Wahkon) single united global culture will be the culture wherein all of humanity will be united. I believe that this culture will (first) become the culture of America and that it will then spread throughout the whole world. Ref. (1.) (2.)

My mission to unit humanity within a single united global culture is an end-time mission. Therefore, my mission will not be accomplished until it ushers in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ. And because Jesus Christ's second coming will not occur until all nations have been evangelized to both the Catholic Church as well as to a one-world Catholic monarchial system of government, my mission will not be accomplished until members of my maternal kinship family (the Mr. and Mrs. I.C. Rainbow family) as well as other people who will join this family are ruling and reigning over the entire world and have everything ready for Jesus to come and sit down on the throne of His Kingdom, a Kingdom that will have been made completely ready for Him.

In the book of Revelation chapter 4, verse 3, a rainbow is pictured around about the throne. Could this mean that some members of the I.C. Rainbow family will take dominion back from Satan and then begin ruling and reigning (with Christ spiritually present on the throne) over the entire world prior to Jesus' Second Coming? I believe that it does mean this. Plus, in the book of Revelation Chapter10, Verse 1-5, a messenger appears and he is pictured with a rainbow over his head and he is proclaiming that "there shall be delay no longer". These are the words that I am proclaiming. And in this same scripture, an angle says that when this messenger sounds the trumpet, "the mystery of God will be accomplished". I am "sounding a trumpet", or announcing that "the mystery of God will be accomplished".

When Jesus was telling his disciples about the future, and how things would evolve toward accomplishing God's plan, and that this would lead up to the manifestation of evidence (signs) that would indicated that His second coming was a hand, He said: "And they (the Jews in Israel)...shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled." - Luke 21:24. In this verse, Jesus is described as a teacher informing His disciples that when the end of the age was near the Jews would be seen returning to their homeland after a time of being expelled from it, and that even further evidence indicating that His second coming was at hand would become manifest when the Jews would be seen taking possession of Jerusalem from the Gentiles.

This prophecy of Jesus' has been fulfilled. In 1948 the Jewish people were given a homeland and began returning to it, and this exodus continues onto this day. And since the rebirth of Israel as a nation there have been two major wars; both began by surrounding countries. When Israel was reborn as a nation, Jerusalem was still divided and partially under Syria, but then in 1967, it was recaptured in a 6 day war. In other words, in 1967 the Jews took possession of Jerusalem from the Gentiles, just as Jesus predicted. And this fulfilled prophecy of Jesus' (or end-time sign) indicates that His second coming is at hand.

In Ezekiel 38:8, a related to the mentioned above prophecy is presented. It reads: "After many days thou shall be visited: in the latter years thou shall come into the land that is brought back from the sword, and is gathered out of many people, against the mountains of Israel, which have been always waste: but it is brought forth out of the nations, and they shall dwell safely all of them."

Were not the present-day inhabitants of Israel brought back from the sword, and are not the Jews who now inhabit Israel gathered out of many people and nations? And was not the land of waste while trodden down by the Gentiles been restored to a land of plenty and harvest after the Jews return to the land and cultivated it? And are not the inhabitance of Israel dwelling in safety? Israel has a lot of military might, and it also has very powerful allies, which keeps it safe from a major war that could destroy it.

The following excerpt about Jerusalem's history is from David Hunt's article, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem. "That Jerusalem would be 'trodden down of the Gentiles' has been a fact of history, exactly as Christ foretold. The Babylonians held Jerusalem, then the Medes and Persians. Alexander the Great took it for the Greeks in 333 B.C.. Later the Egyptians and Syrians alternately had it until the Romans under Pompey captured Israel in 64 B.C, and held it into the fourth century AD. In the seventh century Islamic invaders took control, to be replaced near the end of the eleventh century by the Crusaders. They held Jerusalem until Saladin (Sultan of Egypt and great Muslim warrior) retook the city in 1187. Later the Islamic Mamelukes of Egypt possessed Jerusalem. Then the Ottoman-Turkish Empire ruled for about 400 years. The Turks sided with Germany in World War I, so the Allied victors gave Britain a mandate in 1917 to administer the region. In 1948 the Jewish people were given a homeland and began returning to the land, an exodus from other lands that continues unto this day. There have been two major wars for Israel since their rebirth as a nation, both began by the countries around them. Until 1967 Jerusalem was divided and partially under Syria, but was recaptured in the 6 day war of 1967."

Therefore, when the "6 day war" came to an end, the times of the Gentles were fulfilled. Therefore, all Christians should know that we are in the end-times and that the Second Coming of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ is at hand."

This generation will not pass away"

In Matthew 24:34, Jesus Christ is quoted as saying: "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place".

What did Christ mean when He said "this generation will not pass away"? He meant that, once all the world conditions (or end-time signs) that He and other prophets predicted would occur at the end of the age had become manifest, they would not continue indefinitely. And that once the prophesied conditions became manifest, all would be fulfilled, including His Second Coming, within the lifetime of one generation."

Jesus prophesied that only one generation would be given the end-time signs described in God's Word. And that that generation's most high Christian prophets would usher out the present evil age and usher in the Kingdom of God.

And because these end-time signs have become manifest in our day and age, it has therefore been revealed that the most high Christian prophets of this present generation, the youth of the 1960's counterculture generation, will usher out the present evil age and usher in the Kingdom of God.

The first condition: Man's ability to annihilate human life:

In respect to the first of these end-time signs, or end-time world conditions, Jesus told his disciples in Matthew 24:21-22: "It will be a time of great distress; there has never been such a time from the beginning of the world until now, and will never be again. If that time of trouble were not cut short, no living thing could survive; but for the sake of God's chosen it will be cut short.

Jesus warned that a time would come when mankind would see its weapons of warfare capacity grow so immense and threatening that all human life would be destroyed if a full born world war were to occur. This is what makes the time of "great distress" so terrifying, and unequaled in human history. And this end-times world condition is occurring at this present time. And considering the uncontrollable war waging history of human beings, this present-day world condition is so bad that if it were to continue for much longer "no living thing could survive".

For a very long time, man was safe from the threat of self animation. But then the situation changed. In the 1940's a number of atomic bombs were created by mankind, and the first atomic bomb was detonated in 1945. And then came the development and stockpiling of far more destructive bombs, hydrogen bombs. With thousands of nuclear weapons at his disposal, man has the ability to destroy all human life from the planet many times over. This situation never existed in history until the latter half of the 20th century. Never before did mankind have the capacity to destroy all human life. But Jesus predicted that this terrifying world condition would become manifest in the end-times, and that it would be a sign that His second coming was at hand, and that the youngest generation witnessing the birth of this terrifying world condition would live to see the fullness of the Kingdom of God established on earth.

The second condition: Israel would take possession of Jerusalem

As previously mentioned, in Luke 21:24, Jesus is quoted as saying: "And they (the Jews in Israel)...shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.". In these Bible verses, we are informed that Jesus taught His disciples that when the end of the age was near, the Jews would be seen returning to their ancient homeland after a time of being expelled from it, and that even future evidence indicating that His second coming was at hand would become manifest when Israel could be seen taking possession of Jerusalem from the Gentiles.

Once the nation of modern Israel began in 1948, it appeared its inhabitants would never control Jerusalem, and the Arab nations that surrounded her said they would never allow it. Yet in 1967, in the so-called Six-Day War, the state of Israel took possession of Jerusalem.This world condition is a sign that we are in the end-times. Christ's prophecy has been fulfilled, with Israel in possession of Jerusalem.

The times of the Gentiles' possession of Jerusalem has come to an end, as Jesus predicted. The fulfillment of this prophecy in our lifetime is like the blowing of a trumpet, warning God's people that the Second Coming of Jesus Christ is at hand and that it is time for us to prepare for His glorious second coming.

The third condition: The Revival of the Roman Empire

The third prophecy deals with the end-time revival of the Roman Empire. Daniel chapter 2 records that the ancient Babylonian King Nebuchadnezzar had a dream concerning the Last Days. Daniel recounted the dream to Nebuchadnezzar, and interpreted the king's dream of a large statue by explaining the four major parts of the statue. A head of Gold, breast and arms of silver, belly and thighs of bronze and feet of iron and clay.

Many Bible scholars interpret these four parts of the statue as representing the four European continent based empires that have existed in the world's history. Daniel confirms that the first of these empires is Babylon, ruled by Nebuchadnezzar. The empires that followed Babylon were Medo-Persia and Greece. Greece was a great empire at the time of Alexander the great. And many Bible scholars believe that Daniel prophesied that the fourth empire would be a revived model of this Roman Empire.

And it is commonly believed, amongst Bible scholars, that the beginning of the fulfillment of this prophesy of Daniel's began in 1950 when the Roman Empire began to show signs of being revived. In 1950 the European Coal and Steel Community was proposed as a means of achieving economic unification in Europe following the war. The hope was that this would strengthen economic trade in Europe. This unified effort led to the signing of the treaties of Rome in 1957, which established the European Economic Community (EEC), and the European Atomic Energy Council. That treaty was taken a step further with the signing of the Brussels Treaty in 1965. The Brussels Treaty began the process of rebuilding the old Roman Empire through reunification of European states under one political system, one economic system, and eventually under the protection of one military force. The treaty established a commission, council, parliament, and court for the union. The revived Roman Empire prophesied in the Bible was well on its way to becoming a reality. More states were added to this growing union in 1973, 1981, and 1986, making up the 10 permanent member states of today's European Union. The EU today is made up of over 25 countries, however the ten nations of the Western European Alliance have a separate status as full members, while those nations who joined subsequent to the original 10 have only associate membership, or observer status. (Ref.)

Daniel revealed details of this end-times world power. He said the legs and feet of the image represented a kingdom. The image had feet and toes composed "partly of potter's clay and partly of iron." This indicated that "the kingdom shall be divided" and "partly strong and partly fragile". Also, just as iron does not mix with clay the components of this kingdom would not adhere firmly together for long (verses 41-43)." "Then, says Daniel, "...in the days of these kings (or rulers of the 10 permanent member nations of the EU) the God of heaven will set up a kingdom which shall never be destroyed . . .; it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand forever." (verse 44).

Prophecies elsewhere in the Bible describe this fourth empire of the final days, and by studying these we can discover evidence that points to the European Union as a new world power that was prophesied to appear on the world seen just prior to the appearance of the end-time prophets who will usher in the fullness of the Kingdom of God, and in doing so, prepare the way for Jesus Christ to come and take possession of His Kingdom, a Kingdom that will have been made completely ready for Him.

The fourth condition: An evil one-world empire-building superpower-nation would appear on the world stage.

There is only one powerful nation that fits this (mention above) description, it's a nation with a sense of "God-given Christian" destiny. And it has the zeal to bring "freedom", "democracy" and "unrestricted capitalism" to the world and stand for "truth", "justice" etc.. It's a nation that promotes itself as Christian and righteous but is evil and moving toward becoming, essentially, a New Age occult nation, and it's also greatly corrupted with greedy money-loving materialistic values. It's the United States Of America. The depth of the deception in our nation has essentially blinded our nation's cultural-mainstream "Christians" to the truth about our nation being the prophetic Babylon (the end-time superpower nation) mentioned in the 18th chapter of the book of Revelation.

In Daniel 7:8, 19-21 we see the "little horn" that came out of the ten European nations that colonized the world and grew to become the dominant nation and "that horn was waging war with the saints and overpowering them." Or, in other words, "that horn" was waging a brainwashing war against Christians, leading them into moral apostasy and the Occult. Fifteen years ago a poll revealed that 23% of Americans believed in reincarnation, and now-a-days there are a lot more Americans who believe in reincarnation. Some evil aspects of the New Age occult religion have already infiltrated into the lives of many of our nation's mainline denominational "Christians". And the situation is getting worse. Note: The New Age is not all bad. There is a lot of good in it, and the good aspects of it should be incorporated into Christianity. Ref: (1.) and (2.).

Prophecies elsewhere in the Bible describe this end-time world power, and by studying these we can discover evidence that points to the United States as the new world power that was prophesied to appear on the world seen just prior to the appearance of the end-time prophets who will usher in the fullness of the Kingdom of God; and in doing so, prepare the way for Jesus Christ to come and take possession of His Kingdom, a Kingdom that will have been made completely ready for Him.

The fifth condition: A movement proclaiming that the end-times have arrived and that an elite group of Christians would conquer the world and establish the kingdom of God would become manifest in the world.

Cardinal Jean Danilou wrote a book titled: The Salvation of the Nations. And in this book of his, he stated that Jesus Christ's Second Coming would not occur until His kingdom had been made completely ready for Him, and that therefore all nations would be evangelized to the Church in the end-times. And in a best-selling book by David Hunt, Hunt wrote: "There is a growing movement within the church that is usually associated with the words kingdom, dominion, restoration, and/or reconstruction. Although similar ideas can be traced back at least to the eighteenth century, the current explosion of the kingdom/dominion emphasis began with the "Later Rain" movement, which came out of an apparent revival in Canada in 1948. It became known as The Manifest Sons of God Movement because of a teaching that an elite group of 'over-comers' manifesting immortality would conquer the world and establish the kingdom of God."

In the Spring of 1948, on the Easter weekend, special services were held at the Sharon Bible College, located in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, called the "Feast of Pentecost". Many people who had heard of the revivals in North Battleford attended these services. This led to what is considered the first "Camp Meeting" in July of 1948 which began drawing large crowds. The teachings from this revival came to be known as "Latter Rain" and quickly spread throughout Canada, United States and around the world.

The Latter Rain Movement or Manifest Sons of God Movement emphasizes a victorious eschatological outlook. This movement emphasizes the Church as overcoming and victorious in the fact that the church would come into "full stature" as taught by Apostle Paul. [Ephesians 5: 25-27] "Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ loved the church and handed himself over for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the bath of water with the word, that he might present to himself the church in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish."

James 5:7, "Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it, until it gets the early and late rains."

The term "Latter Rain" stems from Bible passages as Jeremiah 3:3, 5:23-25, Joel 2:23, Hosea 6:3, Zechariah 10:1, and James 5:7. In the Latter Rain Movement there is the belief that the return of speaking in tongues and the Baptism of the Holy Spirit marked the "Latter Rain" of God's Spirit, and that these were signs of the coming end of history. The outpouring of the Hole Spirit on Pentecost had been the "former rain" that established the Church, but the current "move" of the Spirit was the "latter rain" that would bring the Church's work to completion, and culminate in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, which was and is imminent.

The sixth condition: The rebirth of the first century phenomena of the baptism with the Holy Spirit.

The baptism with the Holy Spirit is a special infilling of the Holy Spirit that in our day and age has influenced the creation and promotion of the world-wide charismatic movement, a movement wherein its members receive both the baptism with the Holy Spirit as well as the related supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit.

In Ephesians 1: 14 the word of God says that the experience of the baptism with the Holy Spirit and the related manifestation of the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit is "the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession". In other words, when we receive the baptism with the Holy Spirit along with the manifestation of a supernatural gift or gifts of the Holy Spirit we experience a little heaven on earth, or the "earnest" (or foretaste) of what it is going to be like when the fullness of the Kingdom of God is established on earth. Therefore, it seems to me that it would be a very important part of God's plan to bring about the rebirth of the baptism with the Holy Spirit along with the related manifestation of the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit just prior to the Second Coming, and the reason why, is because there would then be the experience of the progression from experiencing a foretaste of Heaven on earth to the full experience of Heaven on earth.

The end-times people of God are called to put on the "full armor of God" [Ephesians 6:11]. When we are finished putting on the "full armor of God" we will have entered into the fullness of "our inheritance" [Ephesians 1:14]. We will have been allowed to sit down with Christ on His throne [Rev. 3:21], and we will have received the divine right to rule and reign over all nations and tribes. We will also have entered back into the "Garden of Eden", and we will be eating from the "Tree of Life". Our bodies will then be restored to a healthy youth like condition and shall remain in that condition until we are clothed with our bodies from Heaven.

And at the turn of the 20th century this supernatural phenomena began to occur once again. But it was not until the latter half of the 20th century that this phenomena began to occur in most of the mainline denominational Christian Churches. Therefore, I believe that this is another sign that the Second Coming is a hand.

The seventh condition: a great apostasy will be occurring

In Matthew 24: 3-5 it is recorded that Jesus' disciples asked Him: "What sign will there be of your coming, and the end of the age? And Jesus replied by saying: "See that no one deceives you. For many will come in my name, saying, 'I am the Messiah' and they will deceive many." And in Matthew 24:11, Jesus is also quoted as saying: "Many false prophets will arise and deceive many". And in Matthew 24:24, Jesus is further quoted as saying: "False messiahs and false prophets will arise, and they will perform signs and wonders so great as to deceive, if that were possible, even the elect." And in 2 Thessalonians 2: 1-3, Paul warns us: "For unless the apostasy comes first, be not alarmed to the effect that the day of the Lord is at hand".

For the last 40 years we have been experiencing a large and growing worldwide movement to evangelization all of humanity into a New Age occult religion. And this movement's participants believe that this New Age occult religion will serve as the bases and principle of unity for a single united global culture wherein all of humanity will be united. This New Age occult evangelization mission began with the drug inducted 1960s' rock-and roll music ministry focused on evangelizing the world to a universal religion that would be made up of all the world's religions, a religion that would be primarily a mixture of Hinduism, Buddhism, Sufi Islam and an apostate expression of Christianity.

The term 'New Age' refers to the 'great delusion' that the Bible warned would sweep the world in the "last days".

When Pope John II was a Cardinal he wrote: "We are now standing in the face of the greatest historical confrontation humanity has gone through. I do not think that wide circles of the American society or wide circles of the Christian community realize this fully. We are now facing the final confrontation between the Church and the anti-Church, of the Gospel versus the anti-Gospel."

The eighth condition: two one thousand year "days" will have passed and the "third day" will have therefore arrived.

The church just recently became 2,000 years old. And because "a thousand years is as one day to the Lord" (2 Peter 3:8), the church is therefore just a little more than 2 "days" old. And it has therefore entered into its 3rd millennium, or 3rd "day".

When Jesus was living on this earth He was a living temple in which the new covenant operated perfectly. But they crucified Him, destroyed that temple from off the earth. When the Jews asked Jesus for a sign (John 2:18-21) Jesus answered them, "Destroy this temple and in three days I will raise it up. Then saith the Jews, forty and six years was this temple in building, and will you rear it up in three days? But He spoke of the temple of His body."

In respect to this mentioned above scripture, Bill Britton wrote: "What Jesus is saying to them is: 'You go ahead and destroy this house that I have built for God to live in on this earth, you kill my physical body, but in three days I will raise it up.' Jesus was killed and his body was put in a tomb. And then after two days He arose from the tomb and appeared in His resurrected glorified body. But his resurrected glorified body was never established again as a temple on this earth for a habitation of God. He never went out in His resurrected body to preach the gospel or heal the sick and manifest the Father. After appearing a number of times to some 500 of His disciples over a period of 40 days, He ascended with that body into heaven."

So what temple (or body) was Jesus referring to when He said "in three days I will raise it up"? And what did He mean by the terminology "in three days"? Remember, "a thousand years is as one day to the Lord," so the "third day" is the third millennium of church history. And the temple (or body) that He is, at this time, raising up to be a habitation for God is His body on earth, the church.

The Bible says that the five fold ministry of the Church will last until the coming of the prefect man, or until every one in the Church has come to perfection. That will not occur until after the end-time "great tribulation". But for a short period of time before the coming of that many-member perfect man, there will be a first-fruits expression of that perfect man. This will occur when I, and some other members of my extended material kinship family (the Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Rainbow family) and family friends reach the realm of perfection just prior to the "great tribulation". At that time, we (or, if I do not make it to perfection, they) shall, with the blessing of the Pope, transcend and go beyond the five-fold ministry of the Catholic Church.

Years ago, there were at least two groups of Latter Rain or Manifest Sons of God churches in Anoka, Minnesota, where the badly named "Rum River" flows into the Mississippi River. And at least some of the members of one of those churches (the Shiloh House Ministries) still meet and fellowship together. I use to fellowship with all the members of the old Shiloh House Ministries, and I still occasionally fellowship with some of them during weekend serves. The Shiloh House Ministries still exist, but it is not what it use to be, however, some of its member are still of the Latter Rain Movement, including its leader. She taught, and probably still teaches, that at the putting down of alcohol "the Sons of God would appear".

I initiated and am spearheading the local (MN.), national and international movement to change the name of the Rum River. During prohibition there was a movement to change the name of the Rum River. At the time, a lot of people did not want rivers and other geographic places to have names that were advertisements for alcoholic beverages, or addictive products that are harmful to society. A very popular article of mine titled Solving the alcohol abuse epidemic indicates that I am in the prophetic forefront of the Latter Rain or Manifest Sons of God movement and that myself and members of my extended maternal family, the Mr. and Mrs. I. C. Rainbow Family, family members who I believe will soon be coming to take part in the prophetic leadership ministries of the Manifest Sons of God Movement. I am in the process of starting up a "latter Rain" or Manifests Sons of God group/church, a church that will be made up of my extended material kinship family, the I. C. Rainbow family, and family friends. I am the first full member of this beginning to form "latter Rain" church of Jesus' Rainbow Family. Therefore, I am (so far) the "I" that Jesus Christ our Lord was referring to when He said: "in the third day I (or my church) shall be perfected".

The turmoil, chaos, and pain in this present age is the result of the government of this world being in the hands of the 'prince of the power of the air', the 'ruler of darkness of this age'." But in the restoration that comes with a glorious out-pouring of the Lord's Spirit, an end-time out-pouring that brings about "the manifestation of the sons of God," the devil will be cast out of his place of authority, lose his dominion, and after a short while of rebellious behavior on earth, be bound and cast into Hell forever. This world will then see a true restoration of the earth as God intended for it to be.

At this present time Jesus is raising His church, or myself (and soon to come) also some of my I. C. Rainbow family relatives and friends) up into the realm of perfection. He is raising it up now so that God will have once again a perfect habitation to live in, as He did when Jesus lived on earth. And the church that is being called to a sinless realm of holiness, after reaching perfection, will complete its mission of ushering in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and in doing so, establish the fullness of the Kingdom of God on earth.

Jesus said: "Go you, and tell that fox (Herod), behold, I cast out devils, and I do curse today (from the beginning of the first year of church history to the year 1,000...or, the first "day") and tomorrow (from the year 1,000 to the year 2,000...or, the second "day") and in the third day I (or my church on earth, the part of His church that is being called to usher in His Second Coming) shall be perfected." What Jesus was saying is that after the second millennium of church history a part of His church on earth would be perfected. So He is, at this time, in the third millennium of church history,...or, in the third "day", raising a part of His church up into the realm of perfection. And He is doing this in order to prepare the way for His second coming and the establishment of the fullness of His Kingdom on earth.

The ninth condition: the end of six one thousand year "days" will be drawing to an end...and, therefore, the seventh one thousand year "day", or the "seventh day" the day of the Lord will be at hand."

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them. And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had made; and He rested on the seventh day from all of His work which He had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it because that in it He had rested from all His work which He created and made. (Genesis 2:1-3)"

By Bill Britton: "God worked for 6 days bringing His creation to perfection. He was not discouraged with the imperfect, incomplete creation after the 4th or 5th day. He just kept working until it was finished."

"All of God's work was finished after six days, when He had a man prepared to take over the government of creation (Genesis 1:26-28)."

"On the seventh day God rested, while man went to work taking care of His creation."

Biblical genealogical records inform us that Adam and Eve were created almost 6,000 years ago. Orthodox Jews as well as Christian Creationists, people who literally believe in the bible account of creation and who are opposed to the theory of evolution, are the foremost believers in a literal belief in this genealogical record indicating how old the human race is. I believe that there is a reason for this genealogical record being in the Bible, but I do not believe that it should be taken literally. It was written to let us know when the seventh one thousand year day (the seventh day), or the day of the Lord, would be at hand.

According to the Bible, we have now come to the end of six of God's 1,000 year days. He has been working on His plan, and is now putting the finishing touches on it. He is now preparing some of His prophets to usher in the next 1,000 year day, the seventh day, or the day of the Lord. When these prophets reach a sinless realm of holiness, the seventh 1000 year day will have arrived, and they will then begin to rule and reign over all the earth. They will have been prepared, as was Adam, to take over the government of creation.

According to the Catholic Encyclopedia this next 1,000 year day, or the seventh day, represents eternity. It says in the Catholic Encyclopedia that Saint Augustine taught that: "...the Sabbath of one thousand years after the six thousand years of history is the whole of eternal life". Or in other words, the number one thousand is intended to express perfection, and the last space of one thousand years must be understood as referring to the end of the world."

In Rev. 20: 7-9 the word of God tells us that in the end-times Satan will be released from an abyss and then all hell is going to break loose on earth. This end-time wrath of Satan is called the "evil day" in Ephesians 6:13. And this same scripture tells us that we should "put on the full armor of God"; that we "may be able to withstand in the evil-day".

And the "evil day" just recently became imminent because the coming of God's seventh 1,000 year day just recently became imminent. And those of us who will have "put on the full armor of God" by the end of these six 1000 year days of human history will have taken dominion back from Satan and begun ruling and reigning with Jesus Christ spiritually present in our mist. At the time, we will be "at rest" in the Sabbath day, or seventh day, because, having "put on the full armor of God" we will have completely laid down our own labors, and the strength of the natural man. And in doing so, we will have enabled God to be Lord of His creation.

In the Bible these "clothed with the full armor of God" faithful followers of Christ are collectively called the "overcomer", the "man child", the one who shall rule and reign on earth with Christ. With the rising of this company of saints to the realm of perfection a warfare begins such as the world has never seen. And then after a short period of great tribulation the Second Coming will occur and then Jesus Christ will return to a dominion that has been made completely ready for Him.

The tenth condition: "Many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased."

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. ... And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what shall be the end of these things? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words are closed up and sealed till the time of the end. -- Daniel 12:4-9

Our modern-day transportation system enables us to "run to and fro" like never before. And with the recent introduction of the internet, knowledge has increased like never before.

The eleventh condition - The manifestation of a large and growing movement with a mission to create a world wherein there is a lot more kindness toward animals.

Jesus Christ shall establish an everlasting reign of peace on earth, even the animals that kill other animals for food shall cease to do so to obtain food for nourishment "for behold, the wolf and the lamb shall graze together (Isaiah 65:25)...and the animals that are at enmity with man shall cease to be so... for behold, the baby shall play by the cobra's den, and the child lay his hand on the adder's lair (Isaiah 11: 8)... and all God's creatures shall be at rest. ..." Now-a-days, more and more people are beginning to understand that killing animals for food is a violent act and unnecessary. And many are therefore becoming vegetarians. This growing movement is a sign that Christ's glorious everlasting reign of peace, wherein mankind and God's creatures shall be at rest, is near at hand.

John 3:1-18 - This passage includes Jesus' well-known saying, "For God sent the Son into the world, not to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved through him." I think this passage offers several insights relevant to those who (with strong Biblical support) believe that we as Christians are called to be responsible stewards of God's Creation.This verse points us away from the notion that God is focused on meting out harsh punishment for sin and points us toward a notion of a loving God loves who cares about creation. Significantly, the Son is sent to save "the world," not just humanity. The world includes God's creatures and God's good earth, and this verse argues strongly against the human-centered, self-serving worldview articulated by many Christian leaders.

The world has always needed salvation, because outside the Garden of Eden there is pain, suffering, and death. God's assistance will be necessary before there can be an age when "death shall be no more" (Revelation 21:4), but it seems that our help is needed for this to happen. The need for salvation of the earth has never been greater than now, because of the growing environmental crisis that threatens great harm to God's Creation.

The twelfth condition - an increase of Marian apparitions

Time Magazine reports there have been so many sightings of the "Virgin Mary" around the world that "the late 20th century has become the age of Marian pilgrimage" to many shrines established to commemorate these appearances.

The Blessed Virgin Mary was the vessel that brought Jesus into the world the first time. And she is now heralding His second coming.

With mankind possessing the capacity to destroy all human life in several ways, with Israel in control of Jerusalem, with a unified Europe (or revived Roman Empire), with a movement proclaiming that the end-times have arrived and that an elite group of Christians would conquer the world and establish the kingdom of God, with the rebirth of the baptism with the Holy Spirit and companied manifestation of the supernatural gifts of the Spirit, with a great apostasy occurring, with the "third day's" arrival, with the "seventh day" at hand, with people running to and foe and knowledge increasing, with a large and growing movement to create a world wherein there is a lot more kindness toward animals and with an increase of Marian apparitions we do well to heed the warnings of biblical prophecy and not ignore these end-time signs, or world conditions, that mark the end-time."

"The government shall be upon his shoulder"

According to Catholic doctrine, Jesus Christ's kingdom will have to be made completely ready for Him, before He will appear to rule and reign on earth. Therefore, a one world Catholic monarchial system will have to be established and perfected before Jesus Christ will come to take over His kingdom.

Cardinal Jean Danielou, wrote the following statement in his book, "The Salvation of the Nations". "Theology will be complete the day evangelization comes to an end, the day all nations know Christ, the day the entire world has heard the Gospel, the day Christ can come to take possession of a domain that will have been made completely ready for Him, and when all nations will each in turn have borne testimony to Him."

"Salvation is come to the Gentiles, that they may be emulous of them. Now, is the offence of them be the riches of the world, and the diminution of them, the riches of the Gentiles; how much more the fullness of them?" (Romans XI, 13-15)

"This extraordinary text suggests that the plenitude of the Jewish people's vocation will become manifest only at the end of time. "For I say to you, Gentiles: as long indeed as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I will honor my ministry. If, by any mans, I may provoke to emulation them who are my flesh and may save some of them. For if the loss of them be the reconciliation of the world, what shall the receiving of them be, but life from the dead?" (Romans XI, 11-12) Thus, there is a relationship between the reintegration of the Jews and the resurrection of the dead, that is, the Second Coming, the end of the world. And Saint Paul continues: "...blindness in part has happened in Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles should come in. And so all Israel should be saved, as it is written: There shall come out of Sion, he that shall deliver." (Romans XI, 25 - 26)"

Therefore Saint Paul knew that the salvation of Israel, of his brothers whom he loved passionately, was linked to the conversion of the Gentiles. Many consequences flowed from this. Here was a second reason why the conversion of the Gentiles appeared to be so urgent in his eyes: he knew that the Jews would be saved only after the mass of the Gentiles had been gathered in. This was one of the great mysteries of His Revelation that the Lord had made known to him."

We know that the Jews will not be converted as a people before the mass of the Gentiles have entered the fold. The obstacle to the conversion of the Jews is precisely the fact that the work of evangelizing is not yet completed. It is only when all the peoples of the world have been collectively evangelized, when India is Christian, when China is Christian, when the African Negro world is Christian, that the Jews can be converted; and once the Jews are reintegrated, as Saint Paul says, then and only then can the resurrection come to pass."

"The evangelization of the pagans, and therefore the mission, are necessary prerequisites of the Second Coming, and there is a direct relationship between the evangelization of the world and the coming of the Kingdom of God, for which humanity yearns. The Lord will come to us in His fullness only when the evangelization of the world as been complete."

Mal. 3 "For behold, the day comes, burning like an oven, when all the arrogant and all evildoers will be stubble; the day that comes shall burn them up, says the Lord of hosts, so that it will leave them neither root nor branch. But for you who fear my name the sun of righteousness shall rise, with healing in its wings."

"The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. ... For thou hast broken the yoke of his burden, and the staff of his shoulder, the rod of his oppressor, as in the day of Midian. For every battle of the warrior is with confused noise, and garments rolled in blood; but this shall be with burning and fuel of fire. For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The might God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this." -- Isaiah 9:2-7

This is a prophecy that most theologians have regarded as referring to Christ, and most of it can be applied to Christ, but some of it does not apply to Christ, it applies to the prophet who shall usher in the Second Coming of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. And do so, by taking the "government upon his shoulders", the government of the entire world.

Christ has been a light-bringer and Savior, but for a little over two thousand years since His birth great multitudes of people have continued to walk in darkness, Israel and many other nations have continued to suffer under the yoke of oppression. But when Christ's end-time prophet's mission to usher in the Kingdom of God is recognized and acknowledged by the Holy See, the following prophecy will be fulfilled: "The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light; they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined." The light of Christ shines from this end-time prophet.

By reading and studying my end-time writings about both my mission to evangelize all nations to the Catholic Church as well as about my campaign to establishment a one-world Catholic monarchial system of government, followers of Jesus Christ will be able to see that I am preparing the way for myself to take the "government upon my shoulders", or at least help someone else who believes in my mission to take the government upon his shoulders, in order to establish the fullness of the Kingdom of God on earth, so that Jesus Christ our Lord and savior can come to take possession of His Kingdom, a Kingdom that has been made completely made ready for Him. Praise God! The coming of His Kingdom is at hand! Go forth and proclaim the good news about the imminent coming of the Kingdom of God!

We need a new culture

Sojourners founder Rev. Jim Wallis, while addressing the economic downturn in his keynote address Feb. 28, at the annual Religious Education Congress in Anaheim, California said: "Our goal cannot be to get back to business as usual. We have to say, 'No, we want a new direction. We've tried the greed culture, and it hasn't worked.' We need to create something new, a common good culture, rooted in compassion." This statement by Wallis was published in a recent edition of The Catholic Spirit, an Archdiocesan newspaper.

The current economic crisis, a crisis associated with our failed economic system, a system that is based on greed, along with the current ecological crisis - as well as many other serious problems facing our nation, such as, the alcohol and drug abuse health epidemic and related severe social problems, an imperialistic warmongering mentality and mission, racism, the lack of good family values, the severe lack of respect for life (abortion, embryonic stem cell research, assisted suicide laws, etc.), sexual degeneracy, the obesity health epidemic, the addiction to gambling mental health problem associated with legalized gambling, etc. - indicates that we need a new culture based on TRADITIONAL TRIBAL VALUES. Especially, including the essential core value of traditional tribal culture that rejects our nation's, greedy money loving, materialistic ways - which are the root cause of many of the mentioned above problems. I am hoping that the Minnesota CatholicConference will come to understand this and then take the national prophetic leadership role in respect to helping to create this new culture that I am proposing.Recently, both, my bishop, Bishop John Kinney, the bishop of Saint Cloud Diocese and Archbishop John Nienstedt, the bishop of the Archdiocese of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, sent me letters thanking me for the Catholic activist initiatives of mine that support Minnesota's indigenous peoples. One of my indigenous peoples' rights activist initiatives has gained support from the two internationally renowned Indigenous activists who are on the forefront of the movement that is trying to influence Pope Benedict XVI to publicly revoke a fifteenth century papal bull [Inter Caetera], which is the source of the racism being committed against, both, Minnesota's and our nation's, as well as many other nations', indigenous peoples.

If Pope Benedict XVI would publicly revoke this papal bull and then write and publish a document that states that indigenous peoples have the same fundamental human rights as all other peoples, this would go a long ways toward helping to create a new U.S.A. culture based on traditional tribal valves.

In the summer of 2004, Pope John Paul II lectured American bishops about how their people were “hypnotized by materialism, teetering before a soulless vision of the world."

If the Minnesota Catholic Conference decides to take the national prophetic leadership role in respect to helping to create a new U.S.A. culture, it will require the conference to adopt a peaceful cultural revolutionary mission, which (in part) means radically repenting from being a part of the culture of greed. Hopefully, the conference will [now] admit how right some youth of the 1960s counter cultural revolution were and how righteous some remaining counter cultural revolutionaries still are. And do so, in respect to our protest against the dominant culture's, money loving, materialistic value system and our assimilation into many of the holy and wholesome aspects of traditional tribal cultures.

Albert Bates is an nationally renowned counter cultural revolutionary. In 1990, he published one of the first books on global warming, Climate in Crisis, prefaced by Al Gore. He recently sent me an e-mail wherein he expressed, in respect to our efforts to promote the counter-culture's promotion of traditional tribal values, the "brotherhood" feelings we have toward each other.

And Skip Stone, founder and Webmaster of Hippyland, the world's largest counter cultural site (an interactive site with over 23,000 registered members) recently contacted me to let me know that he posted this letter of mine on his site. Stone recently wrote: "So much of what happened in the 60s is repeating itself again. This is because the movement never finished what it set out to do. Well now we have one last chance to change the world. Are the activists from the 60s ready to finish the job with several new generations of activists alongside them?" On January 20, 2009 a Minnesota county newpaper, the Mille Lacs Messenger, published the following letter of mine.

Still rationalizing

In a best-selling book about the history of the American West, Theodore Roosevelt wrote: "Many of the best of the backwoodsmen were Bible-readers. They looked at their foes as the Hebrew prophets looked at the enemies of Israel. What were the abominations because of which the Canaanites were destroyed before Joshua, when compared with the abominations of the red savages whose lands they, another chosen people, should in their turn inherit?"

Americans found the idea that they were God's new Israel so attractive because it helped justify their partial destruction and total subjugation of the indigenous peoples of the New World.

In Deuteronomy 20: 16-17 the ancient Israelites were given the directive: "But as for the towns of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive. You shall annihilate them - the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites...; as the Lord your God has commanded thee."

President George W. Bush told an audience of his: "When William Bradford stepped off the Mayflower in 1620, he quoted the words of [the Hebrew prophet] Jeremiah 51:10: 'Come let us declare in Zion the word of God.'" Bush also said: "The founders of my country saw a new promised land and bestowed upon their towns names like Bethlehem and New Canaan."

In other words, the indigenous peoples of the New World were viewed by the founders of the United States as new Canaanites of the new Land of Canaan, a promised inheritance and everlasting possession, for some new "chosen people" - white Euro-American Christians, who were to treat (to some extent) the new Canaanites (this lands indigenous peoples) the way the Israelites treated the Canaanites when they invaded and took possession of their homelands.

The mental model of a chosen people and a promised land provides a convenient rationalization whereby one people feels entitled and justified, by divine right, to take over, possess, and profit from the lands of other peoples.

In Matthew 5:38-39 Jesus is quoted as saying, "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." In the New Testament, Jesus gave his followers some new principles to follow.

White European Christian colonists, and then (later) white Euro-American Christians, followed (to some extent) the Old Testament principle "kill every thing that breaths" when they invaded and took possession of the Native Americans' homelands. And most white Euro-American Christians still have not repented. Are they asking that the Natives' lands and sovereign rights be returned to them? They are still following a nullified Old Testament principle and wrongly justify their and their ancestors evil war-mongering ways by comparing them with what the ancient Israelites did to the Canaanites, while following an Old Testament principle.

Christian Atrocities Committed Against Non-Christian Peoples

Old and New Testament scriptures have been misinterpreted by Christians, causing the Christian religion to become an imperialistic war-mongering religion, whose adherents have believed that they were instructed by God to invade the homelands of non-Christian peoples, take possession of their lands and resources, annihilate many of the indigenous inhabitants as well as subjugate and exploit the remaining innocent indigenous peoples.

The indigenous peoples of the Americas, Australia, and New Zealand bear a tragic witness to what Christian nations have done, as have also the indigenous peoples of Africa and Asia. In a fifteenth century papal bull Pope Nicolas V instructed European Christian nations to "invade, capture, vanquish" and "subdue" Indigenous Peoples, "subjugate" them and "reduce their persons to perpetual slavery" and "to take away all their possessions and property." And according to a United Nations World Conference Against Racism document, he also "declared war against all non-Christians throughout the world".

An Old Testament directive to the Jews says: "But as for the towns of these peoples that the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, you must not let anything that breathes remain alive. You shall annihilate them - the Hittites and the Amorites, the Canaanites … - just as the Lord your God has commanded." (Deut 20:16-17)

"And at the seventh time, when the priests had blown the trumpets, Joshua said to the people, "Shout! For the Lord has given you the city [Jericho]. The city and all that is in it shall be devoted to the Lord for destruction. And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword." (Joshua 6:16-21)

Thus says the Lord of hosts, "… Now go and attack Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have; do not spare them, but kill both man and woman, child and infant, ox and sheep, camel and donkey" (1 Sam 15:2-3). (Saul did not carry this command fully in that he spared some cattle as booty. For this action God rejected Saul as king of Israel (verses 8-9, 13-15, 26), and gave the kingdom to David, although even David killed only men and women in the conquered lands of other nations and spared the cattle. (1 Sam 27:8-9, cf. 2 Sam 8:2)

Arise and thresh, O daughter Zion, for I will make your horn iron and your hoofs bronze; you shall beat in pieces many nations … (Micah 4:13).

For the nation and kingdom that will not serve you shall perish; those nations shall be utterly laid waste (Isa 60:12).

Ask of me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, and the ends of the earth your possession. You shall break them with a rod of iron, and dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. (Psalm 2:8-9)

And in the days of those kings the God of heaven will set up a kingdom [of Israel which] … shall crush all these kingdoms and bring them to an end, and it shall stand forever. (Dan 2:44)

Orthodox Jews to this present-day believe that their promised messiah will come and fully restore the Kingdom of Israel - and then God will violently annihilate all nations that will not serve their nation and messiah.

And many Christians believe that Jesus Christ will return to rule and reign over the entire world from Israel - and that all nations will [then] not only serve him but also the nation of Israel.

In the New Testament Jesus sometimes appears like a lamb, this image of Jesus is associated with only his first coming. The scriptures say that during his second advent when he will come with power and glory he will be like a "lion" (Rev 5:5, cf. Micah 5:8). The Old Testament hope of the restored kingdom of Israel, destroying or ruling other nations is transferred in the New Testament to Christ and his mighty angles: "when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, inflicting vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus". (2 Thess 1:7-8)

From the beginning of the Christian religion, Christians were suppose to imitate Jesus appearing as a lamb. However, the Christian mission has been (to some extent and for a long time) wrongly orientated to, both, the violent war-mongering Jewish pursuits of the past, pursuits associated with their Old Testament directives, to either annihilate or conquer other nations, and the violent and vengeful mission of Jesus Christ, that the scriptures say will occur during his second advent, when he and his mighty angles will inflict vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus".

"The day of wrath is coming to root out the sinners from the earth. On that day, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give her light." (Is.13:10)

The Bible scriptures say that after "the day of wrath" the following statement will become reality, "I heard the voices of a huge crowd, answer: Alleluia! The reign of the Lord, our Almighty God has begun!" (Rev.19:7) "The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our God, and of his Christ!" (Rev.11:15)

Wrongly interpreting Old and New Testament dictates, the Western Christian nations have often put themselves in the position of the chosen Israelites while putting other nations in the place of the Amelikes, Hittites, Canaanites etc. and have, therefore, felt justified in partially or totally destroying them with "a rod of iron" like a potter’s vessel.

In a United Nations World Conference Against Racism document there are the words: "In the fifteenth century, two Papal Bulls set the stage for European domination of the New World and Africa. Romanus Pontifex, issued by Pope Nicholas V to King Alfonso V of Portugal in 1452, declared war against all non-Christians throughout the world, and specifically sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization, and exploitation of non-Christian nations and their territories." This document also declares: "….the subjugation of the native peoples of the New World was legally sanctioned. ‘Laws’ of ‘discovery’, ‘conquest’ and ‘terra nullius’ made up the ‘doctrines of dispossession’…" "These doctrines allowed Christian nations to claim ‘unoccupied lands’ (terra nullius), or lands belonging to ‘heathens’ or ‘pagans’." (ref.)

In the 1823 U.S.A. Supreme Court ruling Johnson v. M’Intosh, Associate Justice Joseph Story, who was on the Supreme Court at the time of the Johnson ruling, published a book in which he drew a specific connection between Christianity, the pope (the Vatican) and the ”principle” of ”discovery” adopted by the Supreme Court. And, around this same time, Supreme Court Judge John Marshall also identified the Christian doctrine of discovery behind the Johnson ruling…revealing that the Israelites’ Old Testament directed mission "to destroy or rule other nations with a rod of iron" was (by a misunderstanding of the New Testament directive) turned over to Christians, as God’s new Israelites,” who, according to Romans 2: 29, were "inwardly Jews", (they being white Europeans) wrongly believing that they had a ”God-given right and mission ” to colonize (conquer, subdue and possess) the lands of the red indigenous nations and peoples (the new Canaanites), who were not "inwardly Jews" (Christians) at the time of their discovery by the ethic cleansing and genocidal war-mongering white European Christian imperialists and colonists, who became white Euro-America Christians with the same evil intentions. "Little by little I will drive them out from before you, until you have increased and possess the land." (Ex 23:23-33) This is what the radically misguided white European Christian imperialists and colonists started to do, and later, by succession, white Christian nations of the Americas finished doing to the red indigenous nations and peoples of the Americas."

A number of inferences follow from the Chosen People-Promised Land model (e.g., Deuteronomy 20:10 - 18) such as, indigenous peoples are to be removed (e.g., Indian Removal Act), put into a condition of servitude (e.g., enslavement of the Indians of California in the Spanish-Catholic missions), exterminated to make room for the chosen people of the United States (e.g., massacres at Sand Creek and Wounded Knee, spreading deadly deceases, including the decease of alcoholism) - a decease that is still destroying many indigenous peoples.

For centuries Christian nations - while going in the way of their misguided Chosen People-Promised Land world domination, imperialistic, war mongering mission - have been brutally terrorizing one Muslim nation after another. In the Middle Ages they came to Muslim countries as crusaders. They colonized many Muslim countries and tried to destroy their cultures and religion. The French Christians killed about a million Muslims in Algeria because they wanted independence from their white European Christian colonists oppressors. Our Christian nation has killed hundreds of thousands of Muslim Iraqis. Christian Serbs killed hundreds of thousands of Muslims and raped thousands of women in Bosnia and Kosovo. Israel has been for half a century destroying the Palestinian Muslim people with the help of arms as well as financial and moral support provided by our [American] Christian nation.Muslims ruled Spain for about 850 years and during this time they lived with Jews and Christians in a spirit of tolerance and cooperation. But the moment Christians took over and the Muslims consequently became the weaker segment of the population, the hate in the Catholics’ hearts came out with a vengeance. Muslims were either killed, converted, or forced to leave Spain and their heritage was destroyed.

In South Africa the inhuman system of apartheid was maintained by the church-going white community with the blessing of the churches and indeed the apartheid was practiced by the churches themselves.

In Rwanda the tribe that perpetuated a holocaust of another tribe follows the Catholic religion. The most cruel tyrant in history [Hitler] came from a Christian country and there has been no shortage of other somewhat less ruthless dictators in Christian countries, especially in South America and Africa. Western Christian nations fought two world wars with tens of millions dead and untold misery for the living. For each victory in these two wars the church bells rang in the victorious countries. The first nation to make a weapon of mass destruction and the only one to use it is a Christian nation [America], and it was used to annihilate innocent civilians. And no apology has been offered to the nation that was bombed.

And where is the document that presents a papal granted moral right for indigenous peoples to own land and be independent sovereign nations? What has the Roman Catholic hierarchy and other Christian Church leaders had to say about the 60,000,000 to 80,000,000 indigenous inhabitants of the Western hemisphere who had perished by the end of the 16th century? And what have they had to say about the probable 100,000,000 native peoples who have been killed in the course of the on-going Christian ‘civilization’ of the Western hemisphere"?

In the Book of Revelation it is prophesied that the "great Babylon” will be cast down like a great millstone hurled into the sea. I believe that the “great Babylon” is the immoral and apostate Christian culture of Western nations. During a Mass at the start of a month-long synod of Roman Catholic bishops from around the world, come amid growing concern about the decline in church attendance and interest in religion in many Western nations Pope Benedict XVI said: "Today, nations once rich in faith and vocations are losing their own identity under the harmful and destructive influence of a certain modern culture."

During a mass at Yankee Stadium, Pope John Paul II said: "It is not right that the standard of living of the rich countries should seek to maintain itself by draining off a great part of the reserves of energy and raw materials that are meant for the whole of humanity." In the summer of 2004, Pope John Paul II lectured American bishops about how their people were" hypnotized by materialism, teetering before a soulless vision of the world."

The Western Christian nations’ globalization mission, by which economies of different countries are oriented to a global market and are controlled by mostly American influenced multinational and global financial institutions, is not only an economic process; it is also a cultural process that creates a mono-culture - a culture ruled by the rich and powerful. It destroys the earth’s life supporting eco-systems and radically exploits third world nations. It steals their natural resources and makes their masses of poor people wage slaves who work for almost nothing. From the perspective of poor and indigenous peoples, it is nothing else but another variety of the evil Western Christian nations’ colonialism and imperialism.

For too long the U.S.A. has been sickened by what American Indian historian, Jack Forbes terms soul-sickness. It is a disease that historically has allowed a majority of Euro-American Christians to believe that God has chosen them to lead the rest of the world into the light, permitting the United States to employ massive military might in achieving that so-called mandate. It is the Bush-Cheney doctrine, a doctrine that has drawn the particular ire of the entire world - because it permits the United States to unilaterally attack any nation with massive force or to attack any target within any nation, regardless of civilian casualties. This soul-sickness is what sustains the myths of this nation. It is what defines this nation.

It can be no irony that those that initiated the invasion and occupation of Iraq - in defiance of the UN - were the United States, Britain & Spain. In the past 500 years, these predominately Christian nations are the world’s leading imperialists and colonialist nations. Essentially, they have been the world’s architects of the policies of dehumanization - feeling entitled by God and blinded by greed to trample over the lands, bodies and rights of peoples [of color] worldwide.

The story of the Christian Inquisition against the Hindus in Goa is also a dismal record of Christian barbarism and cruelty; tyranny and injustice; avarice and corruption, repression of Hindu thought and culture, and promotion of obscurantism. The conversion of Hindus of Goa to Christianity was one of the main activities of the Portuguese Rulers in close association with the Missionaries — Society of Jesus, Franciscans and others. Fraud, force and favoritism were the standard methods of ’saving souls’ or ‘conversion’ employed by the Christian missionaries in Goa. From available data we can see that more than 200,000 Hindus were tortured and killed and more than 500,000 Hindus were forcibly converted to Christianity from 1560 to 1812.

Perhaps because of all these anti-Hindu acts, Mahatma Gandhi wrote very clearly in his autobiography "The Story of My Experiments with Truth": "I had started disliking Christianity. This was not without any reason. In those days Christian missionaries used to stand in a corner near the High School in Rajkot and used disgraceful words against Hindus and their Gods/Goddesses. I could not bear this."

Christians need to be aware of their history, and be cognizant of the anti-Judaism and anti-Semitism which is endemic to the Christian tradition and has been the legacy of Christianity for almost two thousand years.

The Orthodox Church and the Easter Catholic Churches honor John Chrysostom as a saint (feast day, November 13) and count him among the Three Holy Hierarchs (feast day, January 30). He is recognized by the Roman Catholic Church as a saint and a Doctor of the Church. Churches of the Western tradition, including the Roman Catholic Church, the Church of England, and the Lutheran church, commemorate him on September 13. In the 4th century he proclaimed in homilies that the Jews were responsible for the crucifixion of Jesus and decide and added that they continued to rejoice in Jesus’ death. He compared the synagogue to a pagan temple, representing it as the source of all vices and heresies. He described it as a place worse than a brothel and a drinking shop; it was a den of scoundrels, the repair of wild beasts, a temple of demons, and the cavern of devils, a criminal assembly of the assassins of Christ.

Martin Luther, a German theologian and religious reformer, initiated the Protestant Reformation. In his 1543 book, "On the Jews and their lies" (A precursor to Nazism) Luther took Jewish hatred to a new level when he proposed to set fire to their synagogues and schools, to take away their homes, forbad them to pray or teach, or even to utter God’s name. Luther wanted to "be rid of them" and requested that the government and ministers deal with the problem. He requested pastors and preachers to follow his example of issuing warnings against the Jews. He goes so far as to claim that "We are at fault in not slaying them" for avenging the death of Jesus Christ. Hitler’s Nazi government in the 1930s and 40s fit Luther’s desires to a tee.Without the centuries of Christian oppression and contempt of Jews, Nazi ideology could not have taken hold nor could it have been carried out. Christian anti-Semitism ultimately played a dramatic role associated with the cause of World War II.

The same notion of creating space for the "master race" is as germane to the ideological framework of Hitler’s Lebensraumpolitik as it is to the U.S. government’s doctrine of Manifest Destiny: In each instance, the extermination of "inferior races" is justified in the interest of making way for a "superior race" of peoples. According to Hitler biographer John Toland, the Führer is known to have "expressed admiration for the ‘efficiency’ of the American genocide campaign against the Indians, viewing it as a forerunner for his own plans and programs." The "depopulation of the New World" was a "salient precursor" to the Nazi Holocaust. The Christian instigated and promoted American Indian Holocaust is the prototype for the extermination of the Jews in Europe.

While the Christian German nation’s Nazi Holocaust of the Jews was indeed unique in scope and in kind to the twentieth century, the colonizing European Christian nations’ holocaust of the Western hemisphere’s indigenous peoples, combined with the colonizers’ successor Christian nations’ holocaust of the Western hemisphere’s indigenous peoples, was far and away, the most massive act of genocide in the history of the world.

Christian history is a great scandal to the human race. Christianity has NOT been a religion of love, peace and justice, although it can, should and will (I believe) become a religion of love, peace and justice.

On December 19, 2008 - the following letter to the editor of mine was published in the Anoka County Union, a Minnesota county newspaper. The population of Anoka County is 320,803 and its county seat is located in Anoka, Minnesota, a city located at the confluence of the 'Rum' and Mississippi rivers. I am the director of Rum River Name Change Organization.

Indigenous Peoples Rights

In an article published in Indian Country Today, the world's leading American Indian news source, titled - Newcomb: World Conservation Congress endorses Declaration there are two statements that I would like to share with Anoka County Union readers.

With the passage of the document, “Implementing the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,” the WCC also acknowledges a connection between the colonization of Indigenous Peoples’ lands and territories and several Vatican papal decrees and other similar documents from the fifteenth and later centuries. The motion explains that these were official authorizations to “invade, capture, vanquish” and “subdue” Indigenous Peoples, “subjugate” them and “reduce their persons to perpetual slavery” and “to take away all their possessions and property.”

The motion acknowledges that the effect of these authorizations, and the doctrines that followed from them, such as the “doctrine of discovery,” “terra nullius” and “terra nullus,” not only have been ecologically and culturally destructive for Indigenous Peoples, their lands, territories and resources, but also made passage of the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples necessary.

Combating White Racism Against Indigenous Peoples

I am a Christian activist who is spearheading the local, national and international movement to revert the faulty-translation and profane name of Minnesota's "Rum River" back to its sacred Dakota Indian name Wakan, which translated means Spirit or Great Spirit.

I am also try to change 13 other derogatory geographic site names that are offensive to American Indians. After MN Representative Mike Jaros received my draft bill to change the name of the "Rum River" as well as 13 other MN geographic site names that are offensive to American Indians, he slightly edited it and then with the consent of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council he introduced it to the MN legislature.

This geographic site name-changing mission of mine is a part of my work to greatly transform Christianity by eliminating white racism in it.

Jerry Mander is an internationally renowned indigenous peoples rights activist. He is the Founder and Director of International Forum On Globalization (IFG), an organization that represents 60 organizations in 25 countries. He is also credited with co-editing a IFG book with Victoria Tauli-Corpuz, the Chair of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. In his book The Absence Of The Sacred Mander writes:

"Our assumption of superiority does not come to us by accident. We have been trained in it. It is soaked into the fabric of every Western religion, economic system, and technology. Judeo-Christian religions are a model of hierarchical structure: one God above all, certain humans above other humans, and humans over nature. Political and economic systems are similarly arranged: organized along rigid hierarchical lines, all of nature's resources [including 'other humans'] are regarded only in terms of how they serve the one god, the god of growth and expansion. In this way, all of these systems are *missionary*; they embrace dominance. They are the creators and the enforcers of our beliefs. We live inside these forms, we are imbued with them and they justify our behaviors. In our turn, we believe in their viability and superiority [as systems] largely because they prove effective: they gain [us] power.

Gary R. Howard, the Founder and President of the REACH Center for Multicultural Education, has developed collections of curriculum materials which are being used internationally. He is frequently asked to deliver keynote addresses at regional and national conferences. He wrote:

"Most of our work in race relations and workforce diversity in the United States has emphasized the particular cultural experiences and perspectives of black, Asian, Hispanic and American Indian groups. These, after all, are the people who have been marginalized by the weight of European American dominance. With the shifting tide of population in the United States, however, there is now a need to take a closer look at the unique and changing role of white Americans. Attention to whites' role in multicultural education is very recent, and the focus on white identity development in multicultural education signals a shift away from equity pedagogy."

Professor Christine Sleeter is a multicultural educator, who lectures nationally and internationally. She won the National Association for Multicultural Education Research Award. She wrote:

"The importance of multicultural education is a struggle against white racism, rather than multiculturalism as a way to appreciate diversity. Both historically and in contemporary society, the relationships between racial and ethnic groups in this country are framed within a context of unequal power. People of European descent generally assume the power to claim the land, claim the resources, claim the language. They even claim the right to frame the culture and identity of who we are as Americans. That has been the case ever since Columbus landed on the North American continent."

The International Indian Treaty Council (IITC) is combating white racism, and on this topic it teaches:

(1.)"In spite of the first two World Conferences to Combat Racism and their calls that Indigenous Peoples have a right to their lands and natural resources that must be protected, Indigenous Peoples continue to lose their lands at an alarming rate, seemingly a continuation of the 'Conquest' of the Americas."

(2.)"Ever since Pope Alexander VI's 1493 Papal Bull "Inter Caetera", calling for the subjugation of the Americas' "barbarous nations" and their lands, first colonial and then successor States have forcibly and violently destroyed Indigenous Peoples. To this day, the racial discrimination and cultural denigration established by Pope Alexander VI are engraved in the mentality of the Americas and continue to underlie the rational for racial discrimination against Indigenous Peoples. The religious imperatives of conversion and annihilation have been replaced by assimilation and "development " as the most desirable end for Indigenous Peoples. The State, economic elites and trans-national corporations have replaced the Spanish and Portuguese kings and Colonists as the beneficiaries of Indigenous lands and resources. "Reference: (1.)

Mililani Trask is an indigenous expert to the United Nations. She wrote: "Globalization is the new form of economic colonization. There is racism here, there surely is.

An IFG - Indigenous Peoples and Globalization Project - statement declares:

"This project aims to examine and publicize the multiple impacts of the globalization process on the most marginalized of all populations, native peoples. Today, millions of native people still live traditional lifestyles, each with a distinct culture, language, knowledge base, identity, and view of the cosmos. The impact of globalization is strongest on these populations perhaps more than any other because these communities have no voice and are therefore easily swept aside by the invisible hand of the market and its proponents. Globalization not only discounts native peoples, it is driving them closer and more rapidly toward extinction."

Note: Victoria Tauli-Corpuz is the Chair of this IFG project as well as Chair of the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issue (UNPFII). The UNPFII has given its support for my effort to change the profane Rum River name, a faulty translation name that desecrates the sacred Dakota Indian name Wakan.

National and international leaders of multicultural education, the leaders of the International Forum On Globalization, and the International Indian Treaty Council seem to be on the same wave length when it comes to their campaigns to eliminate white-racism.

In addition to my Christian (Roman Catholic) social and political activist campaign to replace twenty six of Minnesota's white racist geographic site names that are offensive to the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas, I am also promoting my own campaign to eliminate white racism. A campaign that is similar to that of internationally renowned multicultural educators, leaders of the IFG and the International Indian Treaty Council. My Web site (2.)

Steve Russell (Cherokee), a Texas state judge, twice past President of the Texas Indian Bar Association, Associate Professor of Criminal Justice, Indiana University, wrote, when referring to my campaign: "This campaign is a valuable history lesson!" And Tom Wisner, a singer and song writer who is known nationally for his song "Chesapeake Born", and who has received national, state, and local awards for excellence in teaching, sent me an e-mail in response to the news of Rep. Mike Jaros' offer to help with the "important legislation" to change MN's geographic place names that are offensive to the Indigenous peoples of the Americas. In the e-mail Mr. Wisner mentioned that it is "conceivable to hire good education song writers" to promote legislative projects to show due respect for Indigenous peoples' languages and traditional cultures. And he also mentioned that he "could develop a proposal if he (Rep. Mike Jaros) is interested".

Apparently, white racists used the evil name of the Devil to name twelve of Minnesota's geographic place names. Linda Godfrey, a best-selling author and award winning journalist wrote:

"Racial hatred was why many geographic places were given the name Devil. Place names evoking the Devil reflect a dominant attitude on the part of Euro-American settlers towards the New World during the migration into the wild West. The history of place names is based in mistranslation, deliberate insult and slur..., as well as a Christian notion of the wilderness as the domain of the Devil."

"The origination of many of the Devils across Wisconsin probably has more to do with racial hatred than anything else. Early white settlers were mostly Christian and viewed Native Americans with their different spiritual practices as heathens (at best) or savages and devil-worshipers (most likely). It's a long-standing tradition across time to demonize your foes prior to taking everything they have, including their lives, to assuage any possible feelings of guilt."

"Native Americans saw spirits in many shapes and forms and though there was sometimes a Supreme Being, goodness or badness or tricks flowed from a variety of sources. In the simplistic Either/Or view of the early settlers, this mind-set of multiple spiritual sources was tantamount to practicing deviltry, and so settlers tended to put a malevolent spin on the landscape when interpreting native names for the surrounding landscape."

"...in the native cosmogony there is no single evil spirit comparable to the devil. In the mind of the settlers though, all this "heathen" spirituality had to be the work or the sign of the devil. So the name Devil was given often to native areas known formerly by names meaning Sacred or Spirit or Mystery."

"For example, Devil's Lake in Wisconsin's Sauk County is the white settlers' interpretation of the Ho-Chunk name Day-wa-kun-chunk, meaning Sacred Lake.

In the Encyclopedia of North American Indians there is an article titled: Place names. The following excerpt was take from the article. "Manitou and Wakanda are common names on the map as Algonquian and Siouan terms for the Great Spirit. Whites often changed these names to Devil, and so we have Devil's Lake in Michigan, North Dakota, Wisconsin, and elsewhere."

In Minnesota we have Devil Track Lake and Devil Track River, in these cases the Ojibwe name for the Great Spirit (Manitou) was mistranslated Devil. And in Minnesota we also have Rum River and West Branch Rum River. In these cases the sacred Dakota name Wakan, translated as (Great) Spirit, was mistranslated as the "demon spirit" rum, which brought misery and ruin to many of the natives.

Let's replace these white racists names, let's not let these evil racist names adorn our geographic places and maps.

The first Pope (Peter) was a Jew, but all of the Popes since Peter have been white European men. I believe that the reason why a Catholic indigenous man of the Americas, who is participating in his people's culture, within his people's traditional homeland, can not become the Pope as well as why no other colored indigenous Catholic man who is participating in his people's culture, within his people's traditional homeland, can become the Pope is because the Roman Catholic Church believes in and practices extreme white racism in the context of radical institutional racism. I believe that many white people of European descent are psychologically addicted to a type of racism where in they need to dominate the world. They need their white European Pope sitting on the throne of Peter exercising great influence over the world.

A recent United Nations' World Conference Against Racism document proclaims that a 15th century Papal Bull "declared war against all non-Christians throughout the world, and specifically sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization, and exploitation of non-Christian nations and their territories." (4.) This Papal Bull, written by Pope Nicholas V, instructed Columbus and other slave traders to "capture, vanquish, and subdue the pagans, and other enemies of Christ," to "put them into perpetual slavery," and "to take all their possessions and property". (5.) And in Pope Alexander VI's papal bull of 1493 (Inter Caetera), he stated his desire that the "discovered" people be "subjugated and brought to the faith itself." By this means, said the pope, the "Christian Empire" would be propagated. (6.) Consequently, Columbus wrote, after discovering the homelands of the indigenous peoples of the Americas, "Let us in the name of the Holy Trinity go on sending all the slaves that can be sold." (7.) ... (8.)

Reverend Bartolome de Las Casas, the first European historian in the Americas wrote, when referring to the Europeans' first forty years of genocidal behavior in the Americas:

"...for they are still acting like ravening beasts, killing, terrorizing, afflicting, torturing, and destroying the native peoples, doing all this with the strangest and most varied new methods of cruelty, never seen or heard of before, and to such a degree that this Island of Hispaniola once so populous (having a population that I estimated to be more than three million), has now a population of barely two hundred persons." I believe that Pope Nicholas V and Pope Alexander VI were white racist genocidal madmen who are primarily responsible for 100,000,000 Indigenous Peoples of the Americas elimination in the course of Europe's ongoing "civilization" of the Western hemisphere. Both the present Pope as well as our nation's white Catholic Bishops are still pursuing Pope Nicholas V's and Pope Alexander VI's white racist genocidal agenda. Reference: (10.)

The Indigenous Peoples of the Americas sacred homelands were stolen from them, they were enslaved and killed by diseases, wars and alcohol. And those who survived this Roman Catholic Church instigated and promoted genocide were forced onto reservations (concentration camps) where they are now being assimilated. And on these reservations they are dying from alcohol abuse, hard drug abuse, tobacco abuse, poor diets etc.. And most white Christian leaders do not even care enough to do anything about this terrible situation. It's like when the Jews in white European Catholic nations were forced into slums where they were dying of malnutrition and diseases until Hitler decided not to prolong the genocide and exterminated them in his gas chambers.

Mililani Trask is an indigenous expert to the United Nations, she was nominated and appointed as the Pacific representative to the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues. Ms. Trask is calling on Indigenous peoples the world over to work together to eliminate the prevailing colonial mindset. In her article, A Question of Sovereignty, Ms. Trask writes:"When you look at the nations sitting at the UN you can see that they're all sovereign, but nobody wants to give self-determination to Indigenous peoples."

"Why? Because with our history of colonization, our peoples were placed in a different political status from those of the dominant society. And that old colonial format was maintained by social mechanisms of power which exist to this very day."

"What are the roots of racism? We make a mistake if we believe that racism started when the colonizer sailed in. I really do not subscribe to this belief. If we're going to get to the roots of racism, we go beyond the point of colonization."

"Before Cook sails to Hawaii, what brought him there? What brought Columbus to America? What sent the Spaniards to Central and South America? How did that happen?"

"Well it started back in the 1500s and it started in Rome. From edicts that were enunciated through the Papal Bulls. These were statements and pronouncements that came from the Vatican. And with these pronouncements, the world was divided up for European Christian colonizers."

"What was actually happening at the time was that the monarchs of the Christian nations - the Brits, the French, the Italians, the Dutch - began to fight and war over land and natural resources. In seeking a way to resolve this bloodshed in Europe, they went to the Holy Father."

"This is at a period of time in Western history that predates the concept of secularization, there wasn't a division of the Church and the state and the Pope was the head of the world."

"And so we had, for a period of a couple of hundred years, these Papal Bulls sought to prevent the fighting by dividing the world."

"My favorite one is the Papal Bull of Pope Alexander the VI, it's called the Inter Caetera. When I read the translation of it, (it was written in Latin), it just stunned me. The Pope is saying here that he will sanctify the subjugation of the new world and its barbarous nations."

"So the blessing of the Pope was given, and the colonizer sailed out. It's important that we understand this to be the root of racism, because to this very day, the churches form a central part of the social system of the nation states that are Christian."

"And so the Pope divided up the world. When you look at the colonies, especially in North, Central and South America, you can see this division to this very day."

"When we get together and try to do business, it's tough. The Pacific peoples that come from Chile are speaking Spanish, the French coming in from Tahiti are speaking French, the Hawaiians are trying to regain our language but generally we speak in the tongue of the colonizers."

"We have to go back and seek accountability from the churches. And not only do we need to educate them, but we need to make a place for them at the table of reconciliation. They are called upon to acknowledge this past. To stand up and to walk with us, shoulder to shoulder. So that we can overturn these racist historical policies.

"I'm glad to see in the effort here in Australia that I have worked on myself, for reconciliation, strong voices come from the church. That is appropriate."

Christine Sleeter, a nationally and internationally renowned multicultural educator and social activist defines white racism or white supremacy as "the system of rules, procedures, and tacit beliefs that result in whites collectively maintaining control over the wealth and power of the nation and the world".

I believe that by indulging in extreme white racism the Roman Catholic Church continues to be the primary promoter of a health and earth destroying "civilization" and that it is continually spreading its influence throughout the world by way of its white supremacist world domination mission. And I believe that the reason why this is occurring is because the Roman Catholic Church is so radically white racist that it has not been able to, as Cardinal Danielou wrote: "refract Christianity through the many facets of human civilization. Christianity has been refracted through the Greek and Roman worlds, but it will have to be refracted through the Hindu facet and the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas facet in order to attain its fulfillment. There are many aspects of Christianity that shall not be discover until Christianity has been refracted through every facet of the prism of human civilization." I also believe that the Roman Catholic Church is so extremely white racist that it can not believe that there are enough spiritual treasures in indigenous colored peoples' cultures and religions to make it worth while refracting Christianity though them in order to incorporate the spiritual treasures that are in them, hence it continues to lead the whole human race to its destruction.

In an article published in Minnesota's Saint Cloud Diocesan newspaper, the Visitor, James Engel, a past staff writer for the Visitor, wrote:

"Christianity came to the Americas nearly five centuries ago. Spirituality had been here long before that, and while Christians often disregard the principles of Christianity, nowhere has it done more damage than to the people native to the Americas. Traditionally, Native Americans recognized the presence of the Creator in all of His Creation...living and inert. Dating back centuries Native Americans are credited with respecting this creation: The lakes, which today are poisoned or have died. The earth, now cursed with pesticides and dotted with overcrowded landfills. The sky, today sporting holes in its unseen ozone and sporting too, thick layers of visible smog."

"European setters denied Native Americans their rights...to land, to life, to religion. Much was lost. And while there is little effort to retrieve that which was lost, something can be learned from it, even today."

"When Pope John Paul II toured the southern and western United States in the fall of 1987 he addressed, and was addressed by, a conference of Native Americans."

A Native American (Alfretta Antone) spoke at that conference and Engel wrote about his address:

"Upon initial contact with Europeans, we shared the land given us by our Creator and taught others how to survive here. History, however, stands as a witness to the use and abuse we have experienced in our homelands." "Today little remains of the gifts and richness which our Creator has shared with us, the original peoples of these lands."

Engle also wrote:

"Antone implored the Pope to help secure a dozen rights for Native Americans. Several dealt with fair treatment by the government, others dealt with much needed economic gains, others dealt with successful incorporation of Native American culture into American culture. But one stood out as important in its meaning, and its insight: (Antone said) 'That our sacred ways and prayers be respected'."

"Many Native Americans espouse some Christian religion, and while the Native American population in Minnesota might be higher than in some regions of the country, there is precious little Native American culture or pirituality in the ways and lives of central Minnesota Catholics. And, most probably, precious little respect for that spirituality."

"A 1977 pastoral letter on Native Americans, written by the bishops spoke of justice, the American experience, and the role of the Church. It spoke of faith and culture: the Catholic faith, the American culture. It virtually ignored the gifts, the talents, the spirituality that Native Americans bring to the Church."

It is because of this exclusive white racist mentality of the Roman Catholic Church’s hierarchy that the Catholic Church continues to lead the whole human race as well as all life on earth to its destruction. It is so extremely white racist that it can not do what it should do, and that is, refract Christianity through the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas facet of the prism of human civilization - and in doing so, incorporate the ecological awareness of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas into the Church, and by doing so, get the Church going in the direction of ecological salvation for the whole human race as well as for all other good life forms.

Hopefully, both, my local, national and international movement to replace Minnesota's geographic place names that are offensive to the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas as well as my - eliminating white racism in Christianity - Catholic teaching ministry will get the Roman Catholic Church going in the right direction.

Day by day, week by week, year by year, I am continually gaining more and more power to influence the Roman Catholic Church to change its course and get going in the right direction.

After the National Catholic Reporter was informed that I had received a letter from the Pontifical Council of Justice and Peace it published a letter of mine about my effort to revert Minnesota's profane "Rum River" name back to its original Native name. The National Catholic Reporter is an independent newsweekly with over 120,000 loyal readers in 96 countries on 6 continents, a newsweekly that is commitment to in-depth reporting on global peace and justice issues and consistently wins national and international awards from the Catholic Press Association.

Archbishop Harry Flynn as well as my bishop, Bishop John Kinney, have given their support for my effort to change the profane Rum River name. In a letter from Archbishop Harry Flynn, he thanked me for crediting his support for a lot of the national and international support that I have received for my effort to change this river's profane name.

After sending an envelope containing (A.) a letter about my effort to change the profane Rum River name, (B.) the mentioned above letter from Archbishop Harry Flynn, (C.) a letter of support from the Tekakwitha Conference, an international Indigenous People of North America Catholic conference representing hundreds of tribes, and (D.) some "associated material", material about my worldview around the word wakan, Catholic prophetic visionary ministry, to the PONTIFICAL COUNCIL FOR JUSTICE AND PEACE, I received a response letter from Bishop Giampaola Crealdi, a secretary for the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace, wherein he wrote: "Thank you for your letter of 24 January 2004, on your efforts to change the name of a river in Minnesota. The Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace has taken note of your campaign and the associated material you sent with your letter." The "associated material" was my booklet about my, worldview around the word wakan, Catholic prophetic visionary ministry.

Professor Christine Sleeter, the mentioned above multicultural educator, who lectures nationally and internationally, and who won the National Association for Multicultural Education Research Award, has given her supported for the effort to revert the name of the "Rum River" back to its original Native name. She sent me the following letter of support.

"I am writing to express my full support of the effort to return the "Rum River" to its original name, Wakan. I believe that this is the right and honorable thing to do for two reasons. First, there has been a long history among colonizers of changing names of the people and places as part of the process of conquest. As you know, schools have a history of Anglicizing children's names, which I see as a comparable practice to changing existing place names, as if the place did not already have a name. Names are valuable symbols of identity that should be respected."

"Second, when I found out why Europeans selected the name "Rum," I was appalled. Keeping that name maintains a racist, derogatory characterization of Mdewakanton Dakota peoples. U.S. citizens today do not need to perpetuate legacies of racism. The right thing to do would be to return the River to its original name, and get rid of the racist label that the name "Rum" keeps alive. I support the work you are doing to bring about this redress."

The more support I receive for my effort to revert the name of the "Rum River" back to its original Native name, the more power I gain to influence the Roman Catholic Church to change course and get going in the right direction.

History of the Anoka Dakota Unity Alliance

On July 14, 2007 the Anoka County Historical Society hosted an event to commemorate Anoka County's sesquicentennial. It was held in conjunction with Anoka's annual "Riverfest and Craft Fair". The event draws attention to, as well as celebrates Anoka's historic river, the "Rum River". Unfortunately, this river has a profane and controversial name. It is believed that the sacred Dakota name for this historic river (Wakan), which when translated into English means Spirit or Great Spirit, was mistranslated in a punning way by early 18th century white fur traders to mean the spirituous liquor (rum), and that this is how it received its current profane name.

There is a growing local, national and international movement to change the name of this river back to its sacred Dakota name. On June 10, 2007, Thomas Dahlheimer, the activist who is spearheading the river name-changing movement, asked the City of Anoka and Anoka County Historical Society officials if Jim Anderson, the Cultural Chair and Historian for the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community, could set up two tepees in Anoka, preferably near the historic river, but secondly at the Anoka County Historical Society Center (ACHC), and display interpretive text and signage about Dakota culture and history. Note: Permission was granted and Anderson set up a tepee and taught Dakota culture and history.

Prior to this request, Mr. Anderson had written a letter of support for the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community. In this letter his community expressed its support for the effort to change the name of the river back to its sacred Dakota name. Therefore, when Dahlheimer asked the City of Anoka and Anoka County Historical Society officials if Anderson could set up tepees in Anoka they knew that Dahlheimer was attempting to help the Dakota people make inroads into Anoka for the purpose of helping Anoka residents understand that the river and land on both sides of it are considered sacred to the Dakota people, as well as for gaining support for the effort to change the name of the river. And also for helping Anoka residents understand that a significant number of the Dakota people could return to their sacred ancestral homeland territory now known as Anoka, to reverently celebrate and protect this sacred site of theirs. And that if this occurs, many Anoka residents will be changing their lifestyles in order to give due respect for the Dakota's cultural and spiritual sensitivities.

Dahlheimer also informed the officials about the Winona Dakota Unity Alliance and its annual Great Dakota Gathering & Homecoming event held in Winona Minnesota. He also told them about his desire to establish a similar alliance in Anoka, an alliance that would also plan, sponsor, and coordinate annual Great Dakota Gatherings & Homecoming events. Once a year a growing number of the Dakota people whose ancestors were driven from Minnesota after the 1862 Dakota conflict are coming from Nebraska, North and South Dakota, Montana and Canada to gather together and celebrate their return to their sacred traditional homeland in Winona.

Dahlheimer also informed Jim Anderson and another leading activist for the Dakota people, Leonard Wabasha, about his desire to establish an alliance in Anoka, a geographic location that the Dakota people once claimed as a part of their sacred homeland territory. And since they were forced from this area in the eighteenth century they have claimed it as a part of their traditional and ancestral homeland. Hence, the initiative to establish an Anoka Dakota Unity Alliance was made known to prominent members of both communities. And a short while later the Anoka Dakota Unity Alliance was established.

Since its establishment progress toward accomplishing its mission of bringing full unity and reconciliation to both communities has been continuous and glorious. (2007 statement)

Purpose

To promote unity and reconciliation between Anoka residents and the Dakota people, by planning, sponsoring and coordinating unity and reconciliation ceremonies as well as cross-cultural and educational programs, for the purpose of bringing the two communities together to enhance our appreciation of our shared heritage in Anoka and to plan for a glorious future where both communities will be reconciled and united in a city that will serve as a model for other cities seeking to resolve differences and unity with Native people.

Provide a forum to express grievances associated with past injustices committed against the Dakota people and offer solutions to heal the wounds inflicted on them by past injustices. Also, provide a forum to express present-day grievances as well as offer solutions to rectify the injustices.

Provide unity and reconciliation ceremonies as well as cross-cultural and educational programs to help build a unity and reconciliation bridge. A bridge that will put an end to the cultural gap that separates us, by bring us together in justice and peace, and assisting our different cultures and spiritualities to blend into a harmonious unity, a process and end result that will enrich both communities.

To dedicate city park land in Anoka to be used exclusively for unity ceremonies, cross-cultural and educational programs as well as to display interpretive text and signage about Dakota culture and history in general and specific to Anoka.

History of the Dakota people on their sacred river

The Dakota name for the lake that their sacred Wakan river flows out of is Wakan, which when translated means Spirit or Great Spirit. French colonizers named the lake Mille Lacs. This lake figures prominently in Dakota creation stories. The lake is considered sacred because, according one Dakota creation story the Dakota people emerged from it as human beings into this world.

In 1656, the Dakota were living at the headwaters of the river in five villages numbering about 5,000 people. On about July 1 hunters, 250 in number, departed, as was their custom at that time of year, to hunt the buffalo on the prairies of southern Minnesota. While canoeing down the Wakpa Wakan (Great Spirit River) they would stop and camp along the way at their favored locations. The rendezvous was at the confluence of the Wakan and Mississippi rivers, or at their people's sacred site now known as Anoka. In early fall they would return to their villages to gather wild rice, once again making their way up the beautiful Wakan. During their semiannual journeys up and down their sacred river they would reverently commune with it. Besides the journeys, there were also smaller groups of Dakotas frequently going on hunting trips down the river. The Dakota were in continual reverent communion with their sacred river as well as with their sacred land on both sides of it.

The name Anoka was derived from the Dakota word a-no-ka-tan-han, meaning on both sides of the river. Having been forced from their villages at the headwaters of the Wakan, the Dakota moved to the Minnesota and lower Mississippi river valleys. After being forced from their sacred homeland territory some Dakotas would occasionally return to try to regain the region. After about thirty years and two major battles with a band of Ojibwe they did not return again to try to regain their sacred homeland territory. White settlers and a band of Ojibwe then took full possession of their sacred homeland territory, including their sacred river.

As previously mentioned, the Wakpa Wakan has spiritual importance to the Dakotas. It was a spiritual tradition of remembrance for a family member to cut the hair of a deceased relative and bury it on the south facing bank of the river. The Dakota people believe that they belong to the sacred river and that it is a relative, and a "living" relative, to be treated with reverence and great respect.

The first Anoka Dakota Unity Alliance initiative

Initiative: Replace incorrect information currently displayed on the city's website with correct information. Information concerning [who] pushed the Dakota people from their sacred homeland territory, including the land now known as Anoka. The alliance is working with Vickie Wendell, the Program Manager for the Anoka County Historical Center and a member of the Anoka County Historical Society's Board of Directors, to accomplish this initiative.

Currently, information on the city's website state's that: "Prior to the 1800's, the area surrounding Anoka was claimed by the Dakota, but later the Ojibwa pushed the Dakota westward across the Mississippi." The alliance believes that the Dakotas once claimed the area surrounding Anoka, or the "Rum River" watershed area, including the land now known as Anoka. However, the alliance believes that the Ojibwe were not [primarily] responsible for pushing the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory; and that, therefore, the city's website information falsely accuses, for the most part, the wrong people for pushing the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory. This contributes to the present-day alienation that some Dakota and Ojibwe people feel toward each other. White people of European descent were [primarily] responsible for forcing the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory. The incorrect information on Anoka's website unjustifiably sets white Euro-Americans free from guilt for what their ancestors did. And this unjustifiably sets them free from feeling any need to offer restitution to both the Dakota and Ojibwe people.

A World Conference Against Racism (WCAR) document as well as information displayed on the United Nations Permanent Forum On Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) website presents what the alliance believes to be the true historical account of [who] forced, or rather [who] stole, the Dakota's sacred homeland territory, including the area now known as Anoka. The WCAR, UNPFII and the alliance believe that all of the land that the indigenous people of America owned was stolen from them by (first) European colonizers and (later) by the United States. And like the WCAR and UNPFII the alliance believes that it was stolen in a similar way and for the same reasons.

The alliance believes that the WCAR information about how the Native people's land was stolen will soon be published in, and broadcast from, mainstream news media outlets. This will likely occur when the City of Anoka replaces the incorrect and white racist information that it currently has displayed on its website with information that tells the correct historical account of [who] was [primarily] responsible for forcing the Dakota people from their sacred homeland territory.

Three more alliance initiatives

Because the alliance believes that the Roman Catholic Church's hierarchy was [primarily] responsible for stealing the Dakota's Wakan/"Rum" River watershed homeland territory, Mr. Dahlheimer, the current executive director of the alliance and parishioner of the Church of Saint Stephen in Anoka, decided, with the support of the other members of the alliance, to meet and speak with Father Mike Van Sloun, the Pastor of the Church of Saint Stephen in Anoka, about the alliance's mission to reconcile and unite the residents of Anoka and the Dakota people. And to also inform him about the following three alliance initiatives:

(1.) Inspire the Church of Saint Stephen in Anoka to conduct blended spirituality services on the historic river.

(2.) To inspire Fr. Van Sloun to write an apology letter for the Roman Catholic Church's past injustices committed against the Dakota people in the Anoka area. A letter that would apologize for two fifteenth century Papal Bulls being [primarily] responsible for the theft of the Dakota people's land in Anoka. Fr. Van Sloun said he could write an apology letter, but that he would first need to get permission from his bishop Archbishop Harry Flynn. The Most Reverend Archbishop Harry Flynn supports the mission to change the historic river's derogatory name.

(3.) To also inspire Fr. Van Sloun to help Dahlheimer and Jim Anderson, a leading Dakota activist, to establish and teach a seminar to help reconcile and unite Church of Saint Stephen parishioners with the Dakota people. The meeting with Fr. Van Sloun occurred and great progress was made.

For over a decade, Fr. Van Sloun has been following the progress of Dahlheimer's Roman Catholic social and political activist ministry to change the profane and derogatory name of the "Rum River" back to its sacred Dakota name Wakan. Before Dahlhiemer even knew that the "Rum River" name was a profanation of the sacred Dakota name for the river, Fr. Van Sloun had been following the progress of Dahlheimer's [worldview around the name Wakan] prophetic visionary ministry. It is a ministry wherein he teaches and promotes his Catholic expression of the youth of the 1960s counter-cultural revolution. On a number of occasions he has referred to Dahlheimer as a "prophet". Fr. Van Sloun supports the mission to change the historic river's profane name.

Progress associated with the first initiative

Prior to the official establishment of the alliance, Dahlheimer had a conversation with Vickie Wendell. He told Wendell about his historic revisionist account of [who] was [primarily] responsible for forcing the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory. Wendell then stated, "the Ojibwe got some help" forcing the Dakota from their homeland territory.

Future progress

Hopefully, in the future, Anoka will display its own presentation of the following information on its website:

The Dakota once claimed all of the Wakan River watershed area as their sovereign homeland territory, including the land now know as Anoka. But then in 1687, Daniel DuLuth, a French explorer, upon discovering the great village of the Dakota, a village located at the headwaters of the Wakan River set up the arms of his majesty in token of a claim by right of discovery. By doing so, he claimed the Dakota's sacred homeland territory as French territory, including the land now know as Anoka. When he did this he was following the edicts of his Pope and King, or abiding by the Christian Doctrine of Discovery. After this occurred the Dakota people's sacred homeland territory "belonged" to France and no other European nation's explorer could claim the Dakota's homeland territory for his nation, provided French colonist settlers subjugated the Dakota and annexed their land, which they could do by forcing the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory.

Then about 1745 this occurred during a violent attack. A newly arrived band of Ojibwe were in Dakota territory and were at war with the long established Dakota. French settlers took advantage of the situation and allied with the band of Ojibwe who were in Dakota territory by giving them gun powder. The Ojibwe, with the help of the white men's gun powder, then violently force the Dakota from their villages located at the headwaters of the Wakan River. The Dakota, then, unwillingly moved to the Minnesota and lower Mississippi river valleys. The Dakota people had been subjugated and their land annexed.

After being forced from their sacred homeland territory some of the Dakotas would occasionally travel to the confluence of the Wakan and Mississippi rivers and stay for a while. They considered the land now know as Anoka to be a sacred site. After staying a short while at this sacred site they would sometimes go up the Wakan River on hunting expeditions and war parties to regain their sacred homeland territory. Unfortunately, after about thirty years and two major battles with this same band of Ojibwe they left and did not return again to their sacred homeland territory.

White settlers exploited red indigenous people by ruthlessly spreading the disease of alcoholism amongst many native tribes during the fur trade era. This caused excessive competition between the tribes trading furs for alcohol, which caused intertribal wars, such as the Wakan River Watershed Area Ojibwe/Dakota wars. After causing intertribal wars they often used the newly arrived tribes to drive the long established tribes from their sacred homelands, which they were very attached to because of ancestral ties, sacred sites and often creation stories. Because of these attachment sentiments the long established tribes were harder to manipulate and exploit within their sacred homeland territories than the newly arrived tribes. White settlers, therefore, often used the newly arrived tribes to force the long established tribes from their sacred homelands. This is one reason why white men used a band of Ojibwe to force the Dakota from their sacred Wakan River Watershed homeland territory.

Forcing the long established tribes from their sacred homelands separated them from a very important part of their traditional religions. This made it easier for white "Christian" colonizers to convert them to "Christianity" as well as to assimilate them into their "civilized" culture. This is another reason why white men used a band of Ojibwe to force the Dakota from their sacred Wakan River Watershed homeland territory. The fifteenth century Papal Bull, Inter Caetera, instructed Christian settlers to "subjugate the barbaric nations, and bring them to the faith". Native American Indians to this present-day are a [subjugated] people. They cannot own land or have full independent nation sovereignty rights, which are two fundamental human rights .

And forcing tribes that had lived in an area for a long time from their sacred homeland territories in order to make it easier to "Christianize" them was radical state sponsored "Christian" religious persecution of red indigenous people. The Dakota people who were forced from their sacred Wakan River Watershed homeland territory are still suffering from religious persecution. They are still exiled from their sacred Wakan River Watershed homeland territory. It is still occupied by the descendents of the white invaders who stole it from them. And the current white occupiers are still radically desecrating their sacred Wakan River Watershed homeland territory.

As long they remain exiled from their sacred Wakan River Watershed homeland territory they will continue to experience religious persecution, including separation from their traditional sacred sites as well as partial separation from their Great Spirit and spirits (gods). The Dakota's Mde Wakan (Spirit Lake) and Wakpa Wakan (Spirit River) were like temples or churches to the Dakota people. And they have a creation story associated with their Spirit Lake. The Dakota originally believed that they were placed on earth to live in and care for this sacred body of water (lake/river) and its immediate region. After being exciled from their homeland they lost this belief. However, the alliance believes that many of the Dakota people will re-acquire this belief as they return to their sacred traditional and ancestral homeland.

Historical information on the Minnesota DNR website states: "Early White/Indian intervention played an important role in the settlement of the area by white men. The French instigated fights between the Ojibwe and the Dakota so as to ally themselves with the Ojibwe." After white men used the Ojibwe to force the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory the Ojibwe were not given any of the land as their own. They were only given a part of it to live on. It "belonged" to France, then Britain, and it now "belongs" to the United States. The Dakota were indirectly forced by white men from their sacred homeland territory, including the land now known as Anoka.

History of the Dakota near their sacred river

Before and during the 1862 Dakota conflict there was a Dakota band located not far from the Wakan/"Rum" River. Hockokadute (Red Middle Voice) was the chief of the Rice Creek band of Dakotas whose village was located at the mouth of Rice Creek in Anoka County. After being forced from their sacred Wakan/"Rum" River watershed homeland territory the Dakota people, including Hockokadute and his band, were increasingly in contact with white settlers. From then on it was a constant struggle for the Dakotas. They had plenty of food to eat when they lived in their sacred Wakan/"Rum" River watershed homeland territory. But now years later and still exiled from their food plentiful homeland, food shortages coupled by late annuity payments from the government caused widespread hunger. Frustration and hunger led to foraging. One Dakota foraging party attacked a family of settlers near Acton, MN on August 17th, 1862. With three men and two women dead, the Dakota gathered. Hockokadute and some members of his band somehow managed to convince the Dakota leader Little Crow (Taoyateduta) that the time to go to war against the settlers was at hand. Thus began the Dakota Conflict.

It was mostly the members of the Rice Creek band who scattered throughout the white invaders' settlements administrating justice for the terrible atrocities committed against the Dakota people. This just war was meant to punish the white invaders with the intent to discourage more white racist atrocities from being committed against the Dakota people. They were also trying to regain all of their land that the white invaders had stolen and desecrated. In addition, they were also trying to preserve their culture, religion and language, which the white invaders were destroying.

The white invaders indirectly forced the Dakota from their sacred Wakan/"Rum" River watershed homeland territory and then, just prior to the 1862 conflict, they were trying to nearly starve the Dakota people to death and were also mocking them. This caused the 1862 conflict to begin. After it came to an end, thirty-eight Dakota people were brutally and unmercifully hanged in Mankato. They were largely of Hockokadute's band. It was to his village that brave Dakota warriors of the 1862 war first retreated after their last defeat at New Ulm. Here, at the Rice Creek village, were gathered about 1,000 lodges. They remained at this place until a day or two after the battle of Birch Cooley, then they moved west in a train two or three miles long.

The white invaders used the newly arrived Ojibwe tribe to violently force the Dakota from their sacred homeland territory. During the violent terrorist attract and annexation of the Dakota people from their villages at the headwaters of the Wakan/"Rum" River many women and children were massacred. The alliance believes that Hockokadute and his Rice Creek band believed that it was their responsibility to instigate the war and fight in it. If the white invaders had not continued to commit radical injustices against the Dakota, there would not have been a 1862 conflict and a Dakota band would probably still be located at the mouth of Rice Creek in Anoka County. A location not far from the heart of their traditional/ancestral homeland territory, where they could be easily traveling to, to reverently commune with their sacred river in Anoka.

Minnesota Indian Affairs Council Draft Resolution

The Minnesota Indian Affairs Council (MIAC) asked me [Thomas Dahlheimer] to write and send Annamarie Hill, the council's executive director, a MIAC draft resolution endorsing the bill to replace Minnesota's derogatory geographic site names that are offensive to Indians. My draft resolution is presented below.

Minnesota Indian Affairs Council Draft Resolution

Dear Minnesota Legislators,

In respect to Representative Mike Jaros' bill to change our state's derogatory and, in some cases, also profane geographic site names, names that are offensive to American Indians as well as to a lot of other people, we, the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council, request that you pass this important bill.

We find our state's geographic site name that refers to the Dakota people as a snake, as does, according to the Minnesota Historical Society's Web site, Snake River, to be very demeaning and insulting. And because some of our state's Dakota/Sioux people, consider the name Sioux to be a derogatory and offensive name, we therefore request that the geographic site names, Sioux River, Little Sioux River, Cut Foot Sioux Lake and Indian Sioux River be considered derogatory and therefore included with the other geographic place names that we would like for you to replace by passing this bill.

The name Dakota, a Dakota language name meaning friend or ally, is the name that we would like for you to use to replace the name Sioux. The name Sioux was given to the Dakota people by colonial Frenchmen. It is an abbreviation of a past derogatory Ojibwe name for the Dakota people (Nadouesioux), a term of hatred, meaning "snakes, enemies".

We also find the geographic site name that refers to both the Dakota and Ojibwe people as redskins, as does Redskin Lake, to be demeaning and insulting. We also find the geographic site names that refer to Dakota and Ojibwe people as savages, as does, according to the Minnesota Historical Society's Web site, Savage Lake and East Savage Lake to be very demeaning and insulting.

We also find it very demeaning and insulting that our state has two geographic site names that are the White man's faulty translation names for a lake and river that the Ojibwe named to honor their Great Spirit (Manido), Manido bimadagakowini zibi is the Ojibwe name for this lake and its outlet river, it means the spirits (or God) walking-place-on-the-ice river. However, white men mistranslated Manido as Devil, hence our state, unfortunately, has a lake named Devil Track Lake and a river named Devil Track River. We not only find these names demeaning and insulting, but also very disrespectful toward the Ojibwe 's traditional religion and spirituality.

In a book published by the Minnesota Historical Society, a book titled, "Minnesota Geographic Names: Their Origins and Historic Significances", Warren Upham wrote that the Rum River name is "the white men's perversion of the ancient Sioux name Wakan". He also wrote, in this same book, that: "The name of Rum river, which Carver in 1766 and Pike in 1805 found in use by English-speaking fur traders, was indirectly derived from the Sioux. Their name of Mille Lacs, Mde Wakan, translated Spirit lake, was given to its river, but was changed by the white man to the most common spirituous liquor brought into the Northwest, rum, which brought misery and ruin, as Du Luth observed of brandy, to many of the Indians..."

We find it very demeaning and insulting that the Dakota people's sacred "name" for a river (Wakan River), translated as (Great) Spirit River was mistranslated by white men to mean the alcohol spirit rum, and that the river was then give the faulty and punning translation name (Rum).

And we believe that what makes this "Rum" River name even worst is the fact that, at the time when the river was named Rum, rum was not only bringing misery and ruin to many of the Dakota people, it was also being used to help steal their land.

White European rum runners were transporting rum from the trading posts on the Mississippi River to the Dakota people's villages on the headwaters of the badly named "Rum River". They were supplying them with enough alcohol to cause a lot of the Dakota people to become alcoholic drunkards. This was a method that the European settlers used to separate the Dakota from their traditional religion and spirituality, a religion and spirituality that was intimately connected with their sacred relationship with their land and consequently to their attachment to it. This made it easier to lure a lot of the Dakota people to leave their sacred homeland and go to where they could get a steady supply of rum to satisfy their alcoholic addition cravings.

According to colonial European international law, after Duluth planted the flag of France on the Dakota people's land it officially belonged to France, provided the French annex the Dakota people from their land. The French not only supplied these Dakota people with a lot of alcohol they also supplied a band of Ojibwe people (a band that had recently migrated from the east coast into the Dakota people's territory) with a lot of alcohol. According to information presented on our state's DNR Web site, "Early White/Indian intervention played an important role in the settlement of the area by white men. The French, instigated fights between the Ojibwe and Dakota so as to ally themselves with the Ojibwe." The Dakota and Ojibwe people were abusing alcohol and the French knew that they were abusing it. And the French also knew that by continuing to supply them with a lot of alcohol they would cause the Dakota and Ojibwe people to become hateful and violent toward each other. This occurred, and when it occurred, the French sided with the Ojibwe, including providing them with gun powder. They did this in order to be successful in using the Ojibwe (in a radically abusive way) to drive all of the Dakota people from their sacred land on the headwaters of the "Rum River". And by doing so, they finalize their land grabbing transaction.

We believe that these derogatory and, in some cases, also profane names demean our traditional cultures and languages, and in some cases, also desecrate sacred sites of ours, and that they are legacies of racism that are a shameful scandal to our wonderful state of Minnesota.

In addition, we believe that replacing the derogatory and profane "Rum River" name would help our people who are suffering from alcohol abuse to increase their appreciation of our/their traditional cultures and values and that this would help to heal the wounds that are contributing to their drinking problems, and that this, in turn, would be good for all of our Minnesota Indian communities.

We appreciate the local, national and international support for the effort to change the derogatory and profane name of the "Rum River". We are aware that there is a United Nations Secretariat of the Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues promoted international movement to change derogatory and profane geographic site names that are offensive to indigenous peoples who are still suffering from the oppressive effects of colonialism. We are more than happy to participate in this international movement by endorsing our state's name-changing bill. We believe that indigenous people all around the world will be helped by, both, our endorsement of this bill as well as by, hopefully, your passage of it.

We are also aware that there is a national movement to replace derogatory and profane geographic site names that are offensive to American Indians and we are more than happy to also participate in this movement by endorsing our state's name-changing bill. We believe that our endorsement of this bill sets another national precedent and that if you pass this bill, it will also set another national precedent that will help our nation to replace all of its racists names, names that demean American Indian cultures and languages and, in some cases, also desecrate sacred American Indian sites. We believe that our endorsement of this bill and, hopefully, your passage of it will help promote the national movement to replace all of our nation's derogatory and profane geographic site names, and that this will help our nation to become a better place to live.

We also believe that this campaign to change our state's derogatory and profane geographic site names is a valuable history lesson and that if you pass this bill, this valuable history lesson will even more so help to transform our wonderful state so that the people of the dominate culture more fully respect and appreciate our people's traditional cultures and languages.

We also believe that in the wake of a recently published on-line document by the United Nations' World Conference Against Racism that the true history of what happened to our people will be revealed to the general public, and be revealed by (1.) the campaign to replace our state's derogatory and profane names, (2.) our endorsement of this bill as well as (3.), hopefully, your passage of it, and that this true history will cause both our state's Ojibwe people, especially the Mille Lacs Band of Ojiwe, as well as the dominate culture to apologize to the Dakota people as well as offer them restitution justice. In addition, we also believe that the revealing of this true history of our people will cause the dominate culture to also apologize and offer restitution justice to our state's Ojibwe people, and especially to the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe, for the injustices committed against them, and that everyone will benefit from our endorsement of this bill as well as, hopefully, your passage of it.

After reading a recent United Nations' World Conference Against Racism document and then searching to find out why our state has these derogatory and profane names it becomes clear as to why our state has these derogatory names. Thanks to both this World Conference Against Racism document and campaign to replace our state's derogatory geographic place names, for the first time, the true history of what happened to our state's Dakota and Ojibwe people is fully revealed. Thomas Ivan Dahlheimer, the person who originally drafted the name-changing bill and who also asked Representative Jaros if he would like to introduce an apology resolution, which Rep. Jaros said he would, has, so far, also asked the Minnesota Council of Churches, Greater Minneapolis and Saint Paul Area Councils of Churches, the Minnesota Catholic Conference, the Lutheran Coalition for Public Policy in Minnesota, the Diocese of Saint Cloud, the Bishop of Minnesota's United Methodist Church and the Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Minnesota to not only apologize for their ties to the exploitation of our people, but to also radically repent and reform their lives, and do so, in order to treat our people with due respect.

Mr. Dahlheimer has been corresponding with the leaders of these Christian organizations and churches and this causes us to believe that our endorsement of this bill as well as, hopefully, your passage of it will help influence the establishment and promotion of an, indigenous peoples rights, social and political movement that will greatly transform our state, and that this movement will spread throughout our nation as well as throughout the Americas, setting all of the Americas' indigenous peoples free from the subjugated state of existence imposed upon us by Pope Alexandria the VI's 15th century Papal Bull (Inter Caetera). A Papal Bull that continues to be the source of the oppressive White racism being perpetrated against us to this present-day. We believe that Pope Alexandria the VI's present-day predecessor as well as the leaders of both the Eastern Orthodox Church and Protestant Churches continue to abide by this papal bull's, subjugation of indigenous peoples, racist edicts.

In the Papal Bull (Inter Caetera) Pope Alexandria the VI called for the "subjugation of the New World's barbarous nations and their lands". And ever since, first colonial and then successor States have subjugated our people and our lands as well as kept our people and our lands in subjugation. According to the Papal Bull (Inter Caetrea) and colonial European international law (law basis on this Papal Bull) a law that was later incorporated into U.S. law only White European Christian nations could own land. Therefore, we believe that there is a need for the leaders of Christian Churches as well as their people to radically repent and reform their lives. Christian leaders and colonial European international law denied us two of our basic human rights. And U.S. law, currently, denies us these same basic human rights. We had, and still have, a right to absolute root ownership of our homelands as well as full sovereignty rights. However, thanks to, primarily, Christian Church leaders we are still being denied these two basic human rights. This has to change to make things right.

And we also believe that this Christian reformation will occur, primarily, because of our endorsement of this bill as well as, hopefully, your passage of it, and that this Christian reformation will cause a great and wonderful transformation of our state, our nation and the entire world.

This campaign to change our state's derogatory and profane names is revitalizing our appreciation of our traditional cultures and languages. And we believe that your passage of this bill would even more so help us to preserve what is left of our traditional cultures as well as restore that which has been lost. And we believe that this would be good for everyone, and especially for everyone living in our wonderful state of Minnesota.

Solving The Alcohol Abuse Epidemic

In a Minnesota country newspaper article, subtitled: “300 gather to note the toll by alcohol abuse”, Melvin Eagle, the hereditary Chief of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is quoted as saying: “Alcoholism is not our traditional way. We need to try to pull together and away from alcohol because it is destroying our people.”

I am an Indigenous Peoples of the Americas rights activist who is spearheading an international movement to change the derogatory name of a Minnesota U.S.A. river, the Rum River. In a book published by the Minnesota Historical society, a book titled: Minnesota Geographic Names: Their Origins and Historic Significances, Warren Upham wrote: the Rum River name is “the white men’s perversion of the ancient Sioux name Wakan“. Another reason why the current name for the Rum River is inappropriate is because, as stated by Upham in this same book, “rum brought misery and ruin, as Duluth observed of whisky, to many of the Indians”.

I believe the restoration of the river’s original name would help uplift the Indian community, which has been historically plagued by alcohol. When Europeans came to the Americas, the homelands of great multitudes of indigenous people, they brought rum and other alcoholic beverages with them. At the time, the Indians had no cultural controls in place for their usage. Hence, because of alcohol abuse, things moved into degradation and multitudes of premature deaths. And this situation was made even worse by the White’s frequent use of alcohol in ruthless genocidal attacks, alcohol was given to the Indians in order to kill, subdue, or cheat them.

I believe that by drawing attention to the Rum River name-change issue “white guilt” will increase, because of a heightened awareness of the catastrophic consequences caused by white settlers introducing and selling alcohol to the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas; and that this increase of “white guilt” will, in a lot of ways, cause the dominate cultures of the Americas to offer all the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas their long over due restitution justice, especially when it comes to making amends to help them free themselves from the plague of alcoholism.

I also believe that, by reverting the profane name of the Rum River back to its original American Indian name Wakan, translated as (Great) Spirit, we would be honoring the importance of spirituality for Indians. I believe that the Rum River name has become like a joke - an antagonistic joke that’s very antagonistic, and that by changing the river’s name we would be putting an end to a source of racial antagonism.

During prohibition there was a movement to change the Rum River name. At the time, a lot of people did not want rivers and other geographic places to have names that were advertisements for alcoholic beverages, or addictive products that they considered harmful to society. And this is another reason why I am spearheading the movement to change the name of the Rum River.

In the Mentota Mdewakanton Dakota Community’s letter of support - Jim Anderson, the Historian and Cultural Chairman for the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community, wrote:

“I believe that renaming the river ‘Wakpa Wakan’ or ‘Spirit River’ is a great stride in mending the circle that we share with all four colors of man. We, as Dakotas, are very happy that there are people out there that are trying to understand that by using names like ‘rum’ and ‘devil’ to label sacred sites and places is degrading to our children, our elders and also to our ancestors. These places were already named in our language by our people because of their special meaning. When we have to tell our children why these places have been named after a poison or the worst words in their language. It is demoralizing to us to have to explain why a place is named after the same things that helped to steal our land and language. To have to be reminded of the cultural genocide that has been perpetrated on all Indian people. So, in changing the name back to the Dakota language, it will help in the healing process that our people continue to deal with.”

“Many schools and teams have already changed their names in respect to our children and adults. It promotes us to be proud of our heritage, language and culture, to respect themselves and being Indian in our own homeland. I am writing in support of the name change of the Rum River.”

“We, as the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota, request the County Commissioners in the affected counties to support our hope of righting this wrong. Please do the respectful and moral thing and change this disrespectful and culturally damaging name.”

In a Star Tribune newspaper article Jim Anderson is quoted as saying: “It’s another derogatory term.” “Naming a sacred river after what they were binging up to our people is wrong. We’re in favor of the name change.”

During an early stage of this river name-change movement, I was asked to use this name-change issue to gain access to public forums wherein I would be able to express my opinion on whether it was right or wrong for Europeans to bring alcohol to the homelands of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas; and that if, in my opinion, it was not right, explain what could and should be done to rid alcohol from the Americas. And because of the world-wide support that I have received for my effort to change the name of the Rum River, I believe that it will not be long until I will be receiving recognition in the U.S. mainstream news media as a social engineer in the forefront of a world-wide movement to stop the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas alcohol-abuse epidemic.

And I, as a Catholic social activist, have radical grievances against my Church’s supreme hierarchal authorities’ world-wide support for the legality and use of the addictive and harmful drug alcohol. And I am especially troubled by their support for the legality and use of alcohol in the Americas, where the homelands of a great multitude of indigenous people our located. In addition, I am radically opposed to my Church’s use of wine in the sacrament of the Eucharist. I have talked to the pastors of Catholic churches located near the headwaters of the “Rum” River, or, in Minnesota’s Mille Lacs Lake area about petitioning our Bishop, Bishop John Kinney of Saint Cloud Diocese, to give them permission to stop using wine in the sacrament of the Eucharist. I am trying to evangelize the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe to the Catholic churches located on the south end of Mille Lacs Lake. And at least some Mille Lacs Band members are trying to “pull together and away from alcohol”, but my Church’s supreme hierarchal authorities want me to lead them to alcohol (wine) on these churches’ alters.

An open letter to my pastor about this issue:

During last Sunday’s Mass a song with the words “I will drink wine on my knees” was sung. Those words filled me with holy indignation. Why sing those words when everywhere in the world where alcohol is legal and available there are catastrophic consequences?

Now-days, we know a lot more about the dangers of alcohol than they did back when Jesus walked the earth. And when Jesus turned the water into wine at the wedding party those people who drank the wine did not have cars to get in and drive off and kill people. The circumstances associated with the moral issue concerning the legality and use of alcohol has, over a 2000 year period of time, radically changed. But most people are stuck in the past and can not accepted this truth. Even our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities are still stuck in their erroneous traditional way of thinking when it comes to the question as to whether or not our Church should change its attitude about alcohol. I believe that our supreme hierarchical authorities should stop supporting the legality and use of alcohol throughout the world, and especially in the homelands of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas.

When it comes to our supreme hierarchical authorities’ other traditionally approved of deadly drug (tobacco), they are beginning to change their traditional attitude and policies. They just recently banded the smoking of tobacco in Vatican buildings. When modern-day scientific evidence first indicated that it was wrong to continue to allow smoking of tobacco in buildings where people would have to breath second hand smoke, our Church’s hierarchical authorities did not take the moral lead and become the first, or one of the first major building managerial committees to ban smoking from their buildings, but rather they waited quite a long time before banning the smoking of tobacco in their public buildings.

When they were pressured by concerned public health activists to deal with this modern-day tobacco use in public buildings moral issue, they finally had to admitted that they had made a mistake in the past, and that they made it when they originally allowed the use of tobacco in Vatican buildings. We know that in the past they have gotten stuck in some erroneous traditional ways of thinking, and then made immoral judgments when new scientific evidence was telling them that their traditional stances on some issues were radically wrong. Imagine how much Galileo had to suffer because he discovered that the Church’s traditional position on an issue was radically wrong, and our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities would not, for a long time, accept the new scientific evidence that indicated that he was right.

Modern-day scientific evidence informs us, and this is even the official position of the French government, that when comparing the traditional mood-altering drug of both the Church and the white raced people (alcohol) with the drugs of colored people throughout the world, alcohol has been found to be one of the most addictive and harmful drugs, and that everywhere it is legal and available there are catastrophic health and social consequences. But never-the-less our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities continue to disapprove of the use of colored people’s traditional mood-altering drugs and then give their (back in the days of Jesus’ earthly life and out of touch with today’s reality) traditional white racist support for the legality and use of alcohol. And they also continue in their erroneous traditional way of thinking when it comes to their misguided support for the legal use of tobacco.

One of Alcoholics Anonymous’ twelve steps for alcohol abuse treatment deals with the “big shot syndrome”. And one of today’s biggest questions is what was the primary cause as to why the white raced people developed such a diluted superiority complex that they were able to commit such radical atrocities against colored people. And when trying to find the answer to this question, it made sense to me, that if a race of people were to use and abuse alcohol for a long time, they would consequently develop the “big shot syndrome”. People with diluted “big shot” mentalities need to subjugate and manipulate people. And this type of mentality portrays the history of the white raced people. Hence, I have concluded that because - where there is legal use of alcohol there is also a lot of alcohol abuse - that therefore our Church’s long standing position of sanctioning the legal use of alcohol was the primary cause for all of the white-racist atrocities committed against colored people.

And now-days, even when it is known that where ever alcohol is legal and available there are catastrophic consequences our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities never-the-less continue to promote the legal use (and consequently the abuse) of alcohol.

When writing the new Catechism Of The Catholic Church, our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities included an erroneous statement that has influenced a great multitude of people to believe that the use of alcohol is not dangerous. And because of this highly influential opinion of theirs, a lot of people have started drinking alcoholic beverages and many of them are now suffering from alcohol abuse problems. In the Catechism our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities proclaim that alcohol is not dangerous, but that all other drugs are dangerous. They should have known not to put that erroneous statement in the Catechism. Even the advisory doctor for the nationally broadcasted Good Morning America television program said on national television that too many people who start using alcohol with the intention of using it moderately end up becoming habitual abusers of alcohol; and that the belief that the use of alcohol is not dangerous for the average person causes a lot of grief and suffering for multitudes of people. In America 10% of men and 5% of women who start drinking alcohol will become habitual abusers of alcohol.

I would like the world community of nations to advocate the creation of an United Nations world court indictment in order to bring our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities to justice for their long-standing and persistent support for the legality and use of the addictive and harmful drug alcohol, it is a crime against humanity. I am sure that the many anti-alcohol Islamic nations would like to participate in this righteous plan to bring them to justice. And for the Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities to continue to promote the legal use of the addictive and harmful drug alcohol during this critical time when there is a war against other addictive and harmful drugs makes this crime of theirs even more evil.

European salve traders shipped thousands of barrels of rum across the sea to African tribal leaders and gave some of the barrels of rum to them. And they did this without warning them that it was addictive. And they also neglected to warn them that, if they were to get addicted to it they would do evil things to get more of it. And by neglecting to warn them of the addictive and harmful qualities of alcohol, the white salve traders intentionally deceived the African tribal leaders for the purpose of gaining an opportunity to coheres them into capturing their own people for the purpose of trading them (as salves) for rum.

And their scam worked, the black African tribal leaders became addicted to alcohol and then captured their own people for the purpose of trading them (as slaves) for more rum. Hence, the white slave traders were able to make a lot of money. They put the captured black African slaves in their ships as cargo bound for America. And on the way to America 40 million of them died because of the ships unhealthy living conditions. And for the slaves that survived the trip they were separated (husband from wife, children from parents) and sold to white customers who lived many miles apart. And many of those white customers were Catholics. Both Catholic Bishops, as well as Catholic laymen bought and owned black African slaves. They greedily made a profit from the slave traders’ promotion of alcohol abuse in Africa. The slave trade was a promotion of alcohol abuse, greedy money-making, white racist scam and atrocity that many of our nation’s Bishops and laymen participated in. And our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities permitted this alcohol abuse related atrocity to continue, and this radical neglect of their moral responsibility caused untold grief and suffering for great multitudes of people.

And when Catholic missionary priests entered the homelands of the Indigenous Peoples of the Americas they brought the addictive and harmful drug alcohol with them. And the Catholic missionary priests, in the process of their Holy See directed mission to evangelize the natives, gave the addictive and harmful drug alcohol to the natives. And they committed this grave sin because they wanted the natives to believe that alcohol was a good and safe drug. And did so, because it was being used during the summit of the Church’s worship services. And this grave sin of theirs was the primary cause for the Indian alcoholic-abuse genocidal epidemic, a genocidal epidemic that is still being perpetrated against Indians throughout the Americas.

And our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities also sanctioned North American cultural genocidal boarding schools. Native American children were legally kidnapped from their parents and taken away to Catholic boarding schools there they were brain washed to believe that their culture, religion, language, and drugs, drugs that their adult relatives used moderately and spiritual, were evil, and that the white man’s culture, religion, language and drug (alcohol, an addictive and harmful drug) were good. And in the evil environment of Catholic boarding schools, alcohol demented homosexual pedophile priests had a field day sexually molesting the Indian boys. And our Church in North America is headed toward bankruptcy because of all the evil things that happened in those evil brain-washing boarding schools.

When our nation’s bishops found out that a pre-Columbus traditionally used Indian mind-altering medicinal drug (peyote) was being used spiritually and therapeutically by an increasing number of American Indians and that its use was helping them to stop the alcohol abuse genocidal health epidemic that was being perpetrated against them our nation’s bishops condemned its use and proclaimed it a heresy for Catholic Indians to use it, and did so because of their white racist belief that the white man’s drug (alcohol) was the superior drug and the only good mind altering drug, and that therefore Indians should use alcohol and not their traditional drug peyote. And this is another reason why the Indian alcohol abuse health epidemic and genocide continues to plague Indians today.

Jesus wanted the church to go into all parts of the world in order to evangelize all of mankind to God’s saving plan, but he did not want the church to take the negative aspects of Jewish culture with them and impose those negative aspects of Jewish culture on the peoples of different races and cultures. But in respect to the alcohol-use negative aspect of Jewish culture, that is exactly what our Church’s supreme hierarchical authorities did when they imposed, in the process of their evangelization mission, the use of alcohol on Indians and other non-alcohol drinking indigenous peoples throughout the world, and they are still committing this same grave sin. But, thanks be to God, at least some of the Protestant churches have switched from wine to grape juice when it comes to the Last Supper segment of their worship services.

In our country 23% of Catholic priest are alcoholics. And at every Mass that these priest officiate at red wine is placed on the alters in front of them. But in Proverbs 23:31-32 the word of God says: “Look not on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the glass. It goes down smoothly; but in the end it bites like a serpent, or like a poisonous adder”. And alcoholics are not suppose to drink any amount of alcohol, but alcoholic priests are required to do so at very Mass that they officiate at. You would think that our supreme hierarchal authorities would have enough compassion for their alcoholic priests to stop using wine in the sacrifice of the Mass. But I am not surprise that they do not. And the reason why, is because just recently there was, as you know, a hierarchal scandal wherein it was discovered that high ranking church officials did not have enough compassion for their addicted to child molesting priests to send them to treatment centers, instead they (a Cardinal, some Archbishops and Bishops) moved mentally ill child molesting priests from one parish to another, a grave sin that put these sick priests in situations wherein they were enabled to continue on in their child molestation sickness. This is another example of how much compassion they have for their priests who have addiction problems.

When alcohol was criminalized in our country there was only one U.S. Christian Church that objected, it was our Catholic Church. And at the time, our church refused to use grape juice instead of the alcoholic beverage (wine) during the summit of our church’s worship services. This was another factor that contributed to the decriminalization of alcohol and subsequent alcohol poisoning health epidemic and related social atrocities, including the re-establishment of the legalized American Indian alcohol-abuse genocidal health epidemic.

According to the Centers of Disease Control, approximately 85,000 Americans die each year from alcohol induced deaths (not including motor vehicle fatalities where alcohol impairment was a contributing factor) such as overdose and cirrhosis. The death rate for Native people via alcoholism is seven times the national average. And alcohol also frequently figures into the extremely high Indian suicide rate which is almost 75% above that of all other races.

And in a study published in the March 2004 issue of Alcoholism: Clinical & Experimental Research - evidence clearly shows that even small amounts of alcohol during pregnancy can have a significant impact on child development.” This study found that: “There is no safe level of drinking during pregnancy and there is no safe time to drink during pregnancy.” Multitudes of pre-born babies are being killed or severely brain damaged by their mother’s consumption of alcohol during pregnancy. In the U.S., 15% of pregnant women drink alcohol. When viewing this evidence you would think that our bishops would have come out with a statement asking government officials to criminalize alcoholic beverages for at least pregnant women. But because - back in the days when Jesus walked the earth pregnant women drank alcoholic beverages and Jesus did not, at the time, inform them that it was immoral to drink alcohol when pregnant - our bishops therefore erroneously believe that they can not, at this time in the evolution of church history, ask for government officials to criminalize alcohol for at least pregnant women. Hence from this prospective their “pro-life” stance looks quite hypocritical.

“Congress is a case in point, he said: The vast majority of the members don’t understand alcoholism and other drug abuse as a disease. They might give it lip service, but they don’t really get it.”

“His message was similar to one delivered by Sen. Paul Wellstone, a day earlier to the same group. You are working in a society that doesn’t understand the problem nor the solution, Wellstone said.

Ramstad said solving the alcohol abuse epidemic will be difficult. “One obstacle he identified is the $104 billion-per-year beer, wine and liquor industry that contributed more than $2.2 million to federal campaigns.”

U.S. NEWS & WORLD REPORT, July 7,1999 NEXT TARGET: LIQUOR COMPANIES?

“Plaintiffs’ lawyers, federal regulators, and state officials forced tobacco companies into a $368.5 billion settlement to pay for the damage to public heath caused by cigarettes. The same arguments used against the tobacco industry can be used against makers of beer, wine, and hard liquor.” “Sobering facts. To be consistent with their crusade against cigarettes, the health police have to go after alcohol. The most recent calculation by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention place the number of alcohol-related deaths in the United States each year at 108,000. That’s fewer than the 419,000 deaths attributed to smoking, but there’s a big difference: While cigarettes kill in the middle age or later, alcohol kills people in their prime, often in car crashes. As a result, the CDC estimates that smoking deprives Americans of 1.2 million years of life before age 65; alcohol, 1.5 million years.”

“Alcohol not only kills, it wounds. In 1990, reports the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, “alcohol-related crashes resulted in 22,084 fatalities and 1.9 million injuries.”

Protesting the alcoholic beverage (wine) located in Wahkon, Minnesota’s Sacred Heart Church:

Almost every day, I see alcoholic drunkard American Indians from the Isle reservation going to both the Isle and Wahkon liquor stores to pick up more alcoholic beverages to keep their health destroying alcoholic binges going. Over the last thirty years, I have witnessed many alcohol abuse related deaths of local American Indians. Why can these American Indians go to Isle or Wahkon and buy alcoholic beverages but not cocaine, heroin, meth, or even marijuana?

Answer: There are liquor stores in Isle and Wahkon where alcoholic drunkard American Indians can buy alcoholic beverages because the prohibition of alcohol laws came to an end and they have not yet been reestablished. And I believe that the primary reason why they came to an end and have not yet been reestablished is because our church was opposed to prohibition (it was the only church to oppose prohibition) and it still believes in and promotes the legalization of alcohol throughout our nation, where a multitude of American Indians are suffering from a - largely Catholic influenced - genocidal alcohol abuse health epidemic.

Our church was opposed to prohibition, a stance that influenced a lot of people to brake the prohibition laws, which in turn caused legislators to repeal prohibition. Hence we now have liquor stores in Isle and Wahkon.

And during prohibition neither did our Church’s hierarchical leaders decide that grape juice be used instead of an alcoholic beverage (wine) during the last supper segment of the Mass, as I believe they should have. And I believe that the longer our Church continues to both use wine instead of grape juice on the Church’s alters during Masses, as well as does not promote the reestablishment of the prohibition of alcohol laws, the more it will be stacking up sins for the day of God’s judgment.

As previously mentioned, the hereditary chief of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe is quoted, in a county newspaper article, as saying - to a large gathering of band members; “Alcoholism is not our traditional way. We need to try to pull together and away from alcohol because it is destroying our people.”

Alcoholism is a disease that is destroying indigenous people throughout the Americas. And the reason why I believe that they are vulnerable to this disease is because they have been deeply hurt by the ongoing genocide that our Church instigated in 1493 and still promotes today. Our Church sees that Indians are being destroyed by alcohol but continues to promote the legalization and availability of alcohol near their homelands, and this is an example of how our Church continues to commit genocide against the indigenous people of the Americas.

And this is why I hope to get an activist group together to protest the use of wine on Sacred Heart Church’s alter during Masses. I am trying to put an end to the white European “Christian” genocidal system that promotes the legalization and availability of alcohol within the homelands of the aboriginal people of the Americas. Catholic leaders can see that alcohol is destroying these aboriginal people, along with a lot of other people, but never-the-less continue to support the legalization and availability of alcohol.

And I also believe that our Church’s attitude and teachings about alcohol are the primary reason why there continues to be a multi-racial health epidemic and related social atrocities associated with the legal use and abuse of alcohol in not only the Western Hemisphere but also within many other parts of the world where alcohol is still legal and available.

I and my anti-alcohol activist friends are on a mission to (first) establish a dry (alcohol free) Mille Lacs County, then we’ll be working to establish a dry Isanti County, then a dry Sherburne County, and then a dry Anoka County. And after these four Rum River corridor counties become dry counties, we’ll be working to make Minnesota a dry state. And after Minnesota becomes a dry state, we’ll be working to make the U.S.A. a dry nation. And after the U.S.A. becomes a dry nation, we’ll be working to make all nations within the Western Hemisphere dry nations. And then we’ll be working to make all nations throughout the world dry nations. We are going to shut the alcohol industry down!

Official governmental reports on the income of our nation’s bars and liquor stores present evidence that indicates that most of the money that is made from alcohol sales in bars and liquor stores comes from the abusive users. And these reports are presented in the popular cultural mainstream newspapers throughout our nation. And even though this information is known by the pastors of the cultural mainstream “Christian” churches throughout our nation, most of them still support private and municipal bars and liquor stores, and they do not even advocate that most of the money made from the municipal bars and liquor stores go to alcohol abuse screening centers and treatment centers. Descent moral people should be outraged by this fact.

The tax paying citizens of towns that have municipal bars and liquor stores are not making a profit from these immoral businesses, but the greedy and corrupt corporate elite of the abusive alcohol industry are. The average tax payer is paying for alcohol abuse treatment centers, the housing and supervision of DUI incarcerated inmates, and also other alcoholic abuse related incarcerated inmate cost. And the average tax payer is also paying for the medical cost of non-insured alcohol abuse victims of car accidents and other alcohol abuse related violence. Two-thirds of domestic violence is caused by alcohol abuse. And the average tax payer is also paying for Supplement Social Security payments to demented alcoholics who can’t work, and they are also paying for the cost of health and social problems due to the brain damage caused by the alcohol fetal syndrome health epidemic. One out of every 100 children born in America has been brain damaged by his/her mother’s use of alcohol while pregnant. And between 60% and 80% of babies born on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota exhibit Fetal Alcohol Syndrome that contributes to retardation. And then there is the cost of welfare payments to the multitudes of alcoholic single mothers who keep getting drunk and having more babies. And a lot of unwanted pregnancies occur when people get drunk and have unplanned sex, and many of those pregnancies end with an abortion. The negative health and social ramifications associated with alcohol abuse are terrible and descent moral people should be outraged by this fact, and then work to put a stop to this alcohol abuse epidemic and related social atrocities. And you, and the vast majority of our country’s other “Christian” pastors, should begin telling it like it is, instead of giving watered down homilies about this issue, homilies that deceive and therefore influence multitudes of our country’s churchgoing citizens to be apathetic when it comes to solving the alcohol abuse health epidemic and related social atrocities.

In the Catechism Of The Catholic Church it says “The use of drugs (but, erroneously excludes alcohol as one of these drugs) inflicts very grave damage on human health and life. Their use, except on strictly therapeutic grounds, is a grave offence. Clandestine production of and trafficking in drugs are scandalous practices.” During our nation’s prohibition of alcohol era a lot of American citizens practiced civil disobedience by either buying alcohol or participated in the clandestine production and trafficking of the dangerous and harmful drug alcohol, and did so as a means to regain their supposed basic human right to drink alcohol legally. And their involvement in these civil disobedience activities is the reason why alcohol is a legal drug in our nation today.

The government could not stop the illegal use of alcohol so they made it a legal drug. Therefore, is it right for Catholics in our nation to buy, produce or market alcohol? Under the present circumstances how could it be? And if it is, is it not then justified for people to engage in the equivalent illegal activities to gain their supposed basic human right to use present-day illegal drugs? Why are the traditional drugs of American Indians illegal in their homelands and alcohol, the traditional drug of the Church and white people legal? And in respect to our Church’s hierarchical authorities current answers to these questions, their answers and subsequent policies impose a blatant white racist and scandalous double standard on the great multitudes of people who blindly follow them. And this is a disgrace and great scandal to our Catholic Church.

A pre-Columbus Native American drug (Peyote) has been found to help Indians resist the use and abuse of alcohol.. The following summary of a book entitled: Peyote Religion, by Omer C. Stewart, presents some information about this medicinal drug peyote.

Chapter 1 The Plant:

This book is about peyote, a small, spineless cactus having psychedelic properties which grows in a limited area principally in northern Mexico and southern Texas. It is also about the peoples and ceremonies concerned with the use of peyote over the last four hundred years, culminating in the present-day Native American Church, the members of which number perhaps two hundred thousand and the territory of which extends from Alberta, Canada, to west central Mexico and from Wisconsin to the Pacific Coast states.

To the church’s members, peyote is the essential ingredient, the sacrament, in their well-established, unique ceremony. Peyote is not habit-forming, and in the controlled ambience of a peyote meeting it is in no way harmful.

Superintendent Frank A. Thackery reported that: “With peyote there is very rarely any violence shown from its use while quite the reverse is the case with alcohol.”Superintendent A. R. Miller, reporting on the Kaw, wrote: “There have been no deaths from its use in this tribe. . . The Indians of this tribe who use peyote were formerly hard drinkers, but claim that now they have no appetite for alcohol. . . It is used here, I am informed, in connection with religion.”

“Essentially, the religion is Christianity adapted to traditional Indian beliefs and practices.”

Superintendent A. R. Miller reported: I have a list of ninety-seven members of the (peyote) Society. Some have belonged for five years, others have joined since that time. Of these ninety-seven, over sixty of them I knew as habitual drunkards. Some ten or twelve of them got drunk every time they came to town. Of this ninety-seven I have seen fully one-half of them under the influence of liquor on election day. With hardly an exception the whole list of ninety-seven members are now total abstainers.

William H. Ketchum, to the Bureau of Indian Affairs indicated that the Catholics were aware of peyote and eager to have it declared illegal.

From the beginning, the Catholic church found in peyote another evil to be rooted out of the New World. In an effort to purge their new Christian converts of the use of peyote the Church prepared a catechism to be used by priest conducting confessionals.

The Catholic Church said: “We order that henceforth no person of whatever rank or social condition can or may make use of said herb, peyote, nor any other kind under any name or appearance for the same or similar purposes, nor shall he make the Indians or any other person take them, with the further warning that disobedience to these decrees shall cause us. . . to take action against such disobedient and recalcitrant persons as we would against those suspected of heresy to our Holy Catholic Faith."

“Peyotists are strongly opposed to the use of liquor and claim that peyote destroys the taste for alcohol.”

“The Indians had made a strong statement to the effect that peyotism was a sincere religion which helped them resist liquor.”

“It was in the sixties when the hippie generation became interested in peyote…”

“The Drug Abuse Control Acts have been tested a number of times in a number of states and in relation to other religions than peyotism. One of these involved the Neo-American Church, a church which was organized and incorporated by Art Kleps when he and Timothy Leary (a hippie leader) were promoting the general use of all psychedelic substances.”

In the 1960s, I, as a hippy, took two hits of mescaline, the psychedelic drug found in peyote. And during that “trip” I was converted from a somewhat Christian expression of New Age hippie Hinduism to Christianity. In addition, I also received the baptism of the Holy Spirit and spoke in tongues. When great multitudes of 1960s youth started to experiment with psychedelic substances, including peyote, our brainwashed minds began to see the truth about our country’s culture, including our country’s cultural mainstream Christian churches. In the past, when the slave traders arrived in America, Catholic Bishops were there to greet them, shake their hands, and buy their black African slaves. And with this fact in mind, us psychedelic drug using youth of the 1960s began to question the morality of the alcoholic beverage drinking bishops’ anti-psychedelic drugs stance. We, at the time, came to believe that present-day bishops were a lot like the immoral slave owning bishops of the past, but now they were not in cahoots with slave traders, but with the greedy and corrupt corporate elite of the health and earth destroying industries, including the oil, nuclear, gambling, tobacco and alcohol industries. And that they were brainwashing their followers by telling them that they should not question their positions on social justice issues, and that there was no such thing as resistance loyalty.

In the 1960s us counter-cultural revolutionaries came to believe that these cultural mainstream “Christian” bishops were telling their followers to basically conform to the mainstream culture and that they should only take counter cultural positions on social justice issues when they were asked to do so by themselves. And we believed that these bishops could not retain their positions of power and influence over great multitudes of their people unless they continued to make a lot of compromises in order to please the people who were running our nation, those people being the greedy and corrupt corporate elite. Hence when we tried to expose the greedy and corrupt corporate elite’s evil deeds, we could not do so because these bishops’ brainwashed cultural mainstream followers were brainwashed to believe that they were not suppose to discern whether our (not supported by the bishops) counter cultural positions on social justice issues were right or wrong. They believed that they were suppose to blindly believe that they were wrong. And the bishops’ cultural mainstream brainwashed followers would not use traditional Indian truth revealing psychedelic substances because their bishops were opposed to their illegal use and also opposed to their legalization for spiritual use. And this same pitiful situation has continued up to this present day. Hence our nation’s greedy and corrupt elite continue to lead our nation and the whole world to hell in a hand basket.

In 1914 narcotics were criminalized nation-wide and in 1919 it became a federal crime to posses alcohol, but marijuana was not criminalized until 1932. During this time span when narcotics and alcohol were illegal drugs and marijuana was still legal Mexican Indians were growing marijuana and selling it to Hispanics who were migrating into our nation’s southwestern states. And just prior to the prohibition of marijuana our nation’s governmental leaders came to believe that marijuana would spread to the white people throughout our nation. Hence they decided to criminalize it. It was to much to ask people to abstain from all mood altering substances hence when marijuana was criminalized the prohibition of alcohol laws did not stop the use and abuse of alcohol. Hence they legalized alcohol. We need to try to re-enact the prohibition of alcohol laws again but not until we legalize marijuana. Numerous studies and federally commissioned reports have endorsed marijuana’s relative safety compared to other drugs, and recommended its decriminalization or legalization. Virtually all of these studies have concluded that the criminal “classification of cannabis is disproportionate in relation both to its inherent harmfulness, and to the harmfulness of other substances.” Even a pair of editorials by the premiere British medical journal, The Lancet, acknowledge: “The smoking of cannabis, even long-term, is not harmful to health. … It would be reasonable to judge cannabis as less of a threat… than alcohol or tobacco.”

I, as a Catholic prophet with a pharmaceutical social engineer ministry, am in the process of trying to found a religious organization that will seek to gain the legal right to use marijuana and peyote in a strictly therapeutic way during religious ceremonies. And in the process of trying to establish this organization I am trying to influence our Catholic Church’s supreme hierarchal authorities to help me and others to gain the legal right to use marijuana and peyote moderately and spiritually during future religious ceremonies.

I believe in “pulling together and away from alcohol”, and that the moderate spiritual use of marijuana would help people of alcohol drinking cultures to become alcohol free. I would like to rid the world of the plague of alcohol abuse. And I believe that in nations where alcohol is legal and available there should be both movements to criminalize it, as well as movements to legalize moderate spiritual use of marijuana. And I believe that if these, hopefully futuristic, movements were to become manifest and successful at accomplishing their goals they would put an end to the world’s alcohol abuse epidemic and related social atrocities.

Restoring The Fundamental Human Rights Of Indigenous Peoples

I am spearheading the local (MN), national and international movement to revert the faulty-translation and profane name of Minnesota’s "Rum River" back to its sacred Dakota name Wakan, which translated means Spirit or Great Spirit. I am also trying to change 13 other derogatory MN geographic site names that are offensive to indigenous peoples.

After MN Representative Mike Jaros received my draft bill to change the name of the "Rum River" as well as 13 other MN geographic site names that are offensive to Native people, he slightly edited it and then with the consent of the Minnesota Indian Affairs Council he introduced it to the MN legislature.

I am also trying to influence the Roman Catholic hierarchy to revoke the 1493 papal bull "Inter-Caetera." Shortly after Indigenous Peoples Literature posted an article of mine, titled, Changing The Racist Name Of The Knights Of Columbus , Tony Castanha (Carib/Boricua), the internationally renowned leader of the movement to influence the Roman Catholic hierarchy to revoke the Papal bull, Inter Caetera, contacted me and said that I am doing "great work" and to keep him "updated". More recently, after I sent him a link to my youtube.com video, titled: "Protesting The Racist Name Of The Knights Of Columbus" Mr. Castanha contacted me and said: "time to go after these ‘Knights’ guys…" Tony Castanha is also on the forefront of themovement to put an end to the glorification of the colonial pirate Christopher Columbus.
In 2000 a delegation of roughly 15-20 human and indigenous rights activists from the Americas and Pacific region, a delegation with a mission to influence the Roman Catholic hierarchy to revoke Inter Caetera, were "received" at the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. This is where the delegation had been sending its "Appeal to the Vatican." The delegation met with a Monsignor under the President of the Council. He assured the delegation that they were on the right track, and that the Council was an important player along with the Secretariat of State. The issue of the revocation of the Bull "Inter Caetera" was submitted to a commission at the Secretariat of State. This was a victory indicating for the first time that the Vatican is seriously considering this issue.

Revoking the Papal bull, Inter Caetera, would help restore the fundamental human rights of indigenous peoples. A movement to revoke the papal bull has been ongoing for a number of years. It was initiated by the Indigenous Law Institute in 1992. At the Parliament of World Religions in 1994 over 60 indigenous delegates drafted a Declaration of Vision. It reads, in part:

"We call upon the people of conscience in the Roman Catholic hierarchy to persuade Pope John II to formally revoke the Inter Caetera Bull of May 4, 1493, which will restore our fundamental human rights. That Papal document called for our Nations and Peoples to be subjugated so the Christian Empire and its doctrines would be propagated. The U.S. Supreme Court ruling Johnson v. McIntosh 8 Wheat 543 (in 1823) adopted the same principle of subjugation expressed in the Inter Caetera Bull. This Papal Bull has been, and continues to be, devastating to our religions, our cultures, and the survival of our populations."

Essentially, Inter Caetera is the cornerstone of an international system today based on the same ideology of dominion, subjugation and exploitation of lands and peoples as ushered into Africa and the Americas in the 15th century. We are not saying that the Catholic church is perpetuating the same atrocities they did 500 years ago, but what we are saying is that the same ideology and mentality of dominion grounded in contemporary law is ROOTED IN THEIR LAWS and this must be acknowledged and addressed.

The revocation of Inter Caetera will definitely announce before the world community that the Vatican no longer supports the principle of subjugation that it promulgated five and a half centuries ago. The Roman Catholic church will be demonstrating its seriousness about respecting the rights and dignity of all peoples. The revocation of Inter Caetera will be an extremely important spiritual and symbolic gesture of peace and healing in creating a culture of peace on earth.

The doctrine of discovery was a principle of international law developed in a series of 15th century papal bulls and 16th century charters by European monarchs. The doctrine essentially gave white Europeans the green light to go forth and claim the lands of non-Christian peoples and enslave their inhabitants.

In recent years, various tribal members and groups around the country have asked the pope to rescind the 15th century papal bulls.

Finally, after 500 years of the Papal sanctioned domination and subjugation of indigenous peoples, a group of continental U.S. Christians are asking the current English monarch to renounce the ”doctrine of discovery” that resulted in the genocide, colonization and dispossession of the indigenous peoples of the ”new world.”

Maine’s Episcopal diocese is the first in the continental United States to protest against the "doctrine of discovery". The diocese passed a resolution at their annual convention Oct. 26 calling for Queen Elizabeth and the Archbishop of Canterbury ”to disavow and rescind the claimed validity of the doctrine of discovery against all peoples, specifically as it is set forth in the 1496 Royal Charter granted to John Cabot and his sons by King Henry VII, and all other doctrines that have been relied thereon for the dispossession of lands and the subjugation of non-Christian peoples from their initial use to the present.”

Several years ago the United Church of Christ, Hawai’i Conference, passed a resolution which resolves that: "President Paul Sherry on behalf of the United Church of Christ urges and calls upon people of conscience in the Roman Catholic hierarchy and in other organized religions to persuade Pope John Paul II to revoke the Papal Bulls Dum Diversas of 1452 [Romanus Pontifex of 1455] and Inter Caetera of 1493.…"

On November 26th 2007 I attended an Anoka-Hennepin Indian Education Parent Committee and Indian Education Staff public hearing. It was held in Anoka, Minnesota. The "Rum River" finds its confluence with the Mississippi River in Anoka. During the hearing I addressed the committee and staff and spoke about the work I am are doing to change Minnesota’s derogatory names that are offensive to Indian people.

I was asked a lot of questions, therefore, I was allowed to address the committee and staff for about twenty minutes. I told them about Jim Anderson’s and my two hour meeting with the mayor of Anoka, I spoke about the progress we made toward [fully] establishing an Anoka Dakota Unity Alliance. I also mentioned that we are trying to influence the City of Anoka to sponsor Anoka Pow Wows, cross-cultural educational programs, blend spirituality services, etc.. Jim Anderson is the Cultural Chair for the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community and leading Minnesota Dakota activist.

I also spoke about a U.N. World Conference Against Racism Conference document that identifies two 15th century Papal bulls as the source of white racism against indigenous peoples. In addition, I mentioned that there is an international movement to influence the Vatican to revoke these Papal bulls. I told them that I have been corresponding with internationally renowned indigenous activists and internationally renowned multi-cultural educators and social activists. I also talked to them about my article "Changing The Racist Name Of The Knights of Columbus. When doing so, I mentioned the correspondence I had with two prominent member of Anoka’s Knights of Columbus organization.

I also mentioned that I believe that what is being taught in the public schools is "propaganda" and that the real history of what happened to the indigenous peoples of the Americas is still being covered up.

I told them that European international colonial law was based on two 15th century Papal bulls, and that it is called the "doctrine of discovery". I also mentioned that it was modified and then officially established as a U.S. law in 1832, and that - from a Christian perspective - it is a"doctrine of the Devil", and that America is based or founded on this doctrine of the Devil, and that this evil racist and religious sectarian doctrine should be replaced with a good humanitarian doctrine which respects the basic or fundamental human rights of all people.
The meeting went great and I was asked to come to their next meeting on the 28th of January and present more information on these topics. They also told me that Jim Anderson is welcome to address the committee and staff during their next meeting.

In the near future Mr. Anderson and I will be meeting again with the mayor of Anoka. Anderson recently told me that he will address the Anoka-Hennepin Indian Education Parent Committee and Indian Education Staff on the 28th of January, 2007.

On December 6th, 2007 I met with the mayor of Anoka and talked again about these mentioned above issues. After sending Leonard Wabasha, a hereditary chief of the Mdewakanton Dakota Oyate, manager of the Shakopee Mdewakanton Dakota Community Cultural Resource Department and adviser of mine an e-mail about my recent meeting with the mayor of Anoka he asked that I ask the City of Anoka to write letters to the Minnesota Dakota Reservation Tribal Councils inviting them to get involved with Anoka’s mission to unite and reconcile with the Dakota people. I recently did what Mr. Wabasha advised me to do.

During my most recent meeting with the mayor of Anoka he told me that there is an Anoka organization that is being led by the President of the Anoka County Historical Society, Paul Pierce, and that this organization is trying to influence the City of Anoka to change the name of Anoka’s "Rum River Nature Area". I called Paul Pierce a few years ago and he, at the time, gave his support for the effort to change the profane "Rum River" name back to its sacred Dakota name Wakan.

Regaining The Dakota's Mille Lacs Ancestral Homeland

On a Mille Lacs Kathio State Park interpretive sign, Leonard E. Wabasha is quoted as saying: "My people are the Mdewakanton Oyate. Mdewakanton means the People of Spirit Lake. Today that lake is known as Mille Lacs. This landscape is sacred to the Mdewakanton Oyate because one Otokaheys Woyakapi (creation story) says we were created here. It is especially pleasing for me to come here and walk these trails, because about 1718 the first Chief Wapahasa was born here, at the headwaters of the Spirit River. I am the eighth in this line of hereditary chiefs."

When referring to the Mdewakanton "Sioux's" (Dakota's) Mille Lacs history, Angel Oehrlein wrote, in a Nov. 8th Mille Lacs Messenger letter: "When we attended schools in the 1930's, we studied actual events, such as French-sponsored Sieur DuLuth's 1760s Vineland battle, which drove the Sioux from the Mille Lacs area.

"Minnesota's DNR website presents information about this topic. "Early White/Indian intervention played an important role in the settlement of the area by white men. The French, instigated fights between the Ojibwe and Dakota so as to ally themselves with the Ojibwe."

On a Minnesota Historical Society plaque located near the mouth of "Spirit River" (currently name "Rum River") there are the words, when referring to the Dakota's ancient Mille Lacs village: "About 1750 the Chippewa moving westward from lake Superior captured the village, and by this decisive battle drove the Sioux permanently into southern Minnesota." (ref. 3)

On the Lower Sioux Mdewakanton website the Lower Sioux state that: "Long ago, the Mdewakanton Dakota lived around Mille Lacs Lake in central Minnesota. Around 1750, our ancestors were displaced by another nation, the Anishinnabe, and they relocated throughout the southern portion of the state. This was not the last time the Mdewakantons would be forced into a new home." (ref. 4)

The S.D. Flandreau Santee Sioux Tribe states on a website about their history that" The "Santee Sioux bands" had begun a stage of transition into a new culture with their expulsion from their traditional homeland around Mille Lacs.

And on Nebraska's Santee Tribe website there are the words: "The Santee's defeat by the Chippewas at the Battle of Kathio in the late 1700s forced them to move to the southern half of the state which would bring them into close contact and eventually conflict with the white settlers. From that point on, survival for the Santee Tribe would become a daily struggle.

As Europeans settled the East coast, they displaced eastern tribes who then migrated to get away from the White civilization, and they, in their turn, with the help of the western-moving Europeans, displaced weaker local tribes they encountered, and pushed many of those tribes farther from their homelands, as they took over their homelands. (ref. 6)

Europeans sought to extinguish the ancestral ties that these local tribes have with the land, their ancestors and the spirit world. Evidence of this practice has shown itself time and time again throughout the Americas and is now facing international pressure in an effort to correct the sins of the present by recognizing and addressing the history of the Americas.On July 2, 1679 Duluth planted the flag of France on the Dakota people's sacred Mille Lacs area homeland, where the Dakota had lived for at least a thousand years. What was the significance of this flag planting?

According to a United Nations World Conference Against Racism document: "In the fifteenth century, two Papal Bulls set the stage for European domination of the New World and Africa. Romanus Pontifex, issued by Pope Nicholas V to King Alfonso V of Portugal in 1452, declared war against all non-Christians throughout the world, and specifically sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization, and exploitation of non-Christian nations and their territories." In Pope Alexander VI's papal bull of 1493 (Inter Caetera), he stated his desire that the "discovered" people be "subjugated and brought to the faith itself." By this means, said the pope, the "Christian Empire" would be propagated. These Papal Bulls, or "doctrines of discovery", sanctioned Christian nations to claim "unoccupied lands", or lands belonging to "heathens" or "pagans". (ref. 7)

Therefore, when Duluth planted the flag of France on the Dakotas sacred Mille Lacs area homeland he was proclaiming that the Dakota's Mille Lacs homeland now belonged to France. The indigenous people of the Americas were red pagans, and not white European Christians, therefore, according to fifteenth century papal bulls, they did not own the land that they were living on, nor did they have a moral or legal right to own any land. Therefore, the unoccupied land that the indigenous people discovered and were living on could be claimed by the first European Christian explorer to plant his nation's flag on it.

The Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe oral tradition tells that, by the end of the 1760s Kathio battle, their ancestors had violently forced the Dakota from their Mille Lacs area homeland; and that that is how they took possession of the Mille Lacs area land that they now live on. However, because they were indigenous red pagans they didn't own the land that they, with the help of the Europeans, took from the Dakota people. And these indigenous red Ojibwe pagans, to this present-day, do not own the land that they are now living on, its U.S.A. federal land. The indigenous people of the Americas, still, do not have a papal granted moral right to own land. The papal bull Inter Caetera has not yet been revoked. (ref. 8) I am working to rectify this injustice. (ref. 9) At least a part of the Dakota people's original Mille Lacs area homeland should be give back to them.

Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations

On the 4th of July, most of us, being in agreement with our nation’s founding fathers’ 1776 signing of the Declaration of Independence, celebrated Independence Day. The declaration addressed taxation without representation, tyranny, liberty, governance and the “unalienable rights” of all people - rights that were “endowed by the Creator”. It was about colonist leaders’ struggle to define those ideas for themselves and multitudes of early immigrants living amongst the homelands of [existing] independent indigenous sovereign nations.

These indigenous nations possessed full independent sovereign nation status - which England, the Pope and the early immigrants [including our founding fathers] refused to recognize. This was an injustice that violated the– “endowed by the Creator”–unalienable right of indigenous nations to be rightfully recognized and treaded as independent sovereign nations with absolute root ownership of their homelands.

A United Nations World Conference Against Racism document presents information about this topic:

“Historians and academics agree that the colonization of the New World saw extreme expressions of racism - massacres, forced-march relocations, the ‘Indian wars’, death by starvation and disease. Today, such practices would be called ethnic cleansing and genocide.”
“In the fifteenth century, two Papal Bulls set the stage for European domination of the New World and Africa. Romanus Pontifex …declared war against all non-Christians throughout the world, and specifically sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization, and exploitation of non-Christian nations and their territories. Inter Caetera ….officially established Christian dominion over the New World. It called for the subjugation of the native inhabitants and their territories,….”

“The Papal Bulls have never been revoked, although indigenous representatives have asked the Vatican to consider doing so. These ‘doctrines of discovery’ provided the basis for both the ‘law of nations’ and subsequent international law. Thus, they allowed Christian nations to claim ‘unoccupied lands’ (terra nullius), or lands belonging to ‘heathens’ or ‘pagans’. In many parts of the world, these concepts later gave rise to the situation of many Native peoples in the today - dependent nations or wards of the State,…”

Our nation stole Native lands and denied Native peoples (tribes) their right to independent sovereign nation status. Why and how did these atrocities occur? The British government had afforded Native lands a measure of protection by the Royal Proclamation of 1763 which had attempted to restrict colonial expansion beyond the Appalachian Mountains, and had alienated many American colonists. Likewise, many Native people knew that the American Revolutionary war against Britain was an unjust war, waged (in part) to gain the unrestricted ability to steal more of their peoples’ homelands and subjugate more of their people.

The U.S. Declaration of Independence accused King George III of unleashing “merciless Indian Savages” against innocent American colonists. The image of the trespassing-thieving-subjugating-genocidal-religious sectarian and white supremacist American colonists being “innocent” as well as the image of the brave and righteous Native people who fought on the British side in the Revolution in order to protect their Native liberties and homelands as “merciless Indian Savages” fixed a delusional and self-serving memory and imagination of the Native people’s role in the Revolution and wrongly justified their subsequent extreme mistreatment.

American colonists mistakenly believed that the Native people who were fighting on Britian’s side were fighting for the continuation of British monarchy and tyranny. A nation conceived in liberty need feel no remorse about committing genocide against those who had fought against its birth.

The subjugation of this land’s red indigenous nations and peoples by European colonization was a terrible injustice. And the establishment of a foreign–predominately white raced–independent sovereign nation throughout this land was even worse.

Most of the founding fathers were Masons. At that time, no nation believed in the “concept of freedom of religion”, including this land’s indigenous nations. In fact, at that time, the only place such an insane concept was to be found was in Masonry. From that perspective, America was actually founded on a Masonic principle, so that the basis and principle of national unity could no longer be officially based on the people’s unified religious beliefs. This Masonic principle, which is a founding principle of America, is an unholy principle that–at the time of America’s birth–the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church, the Protestant King of England and the indigenous peoples of this land were opposed to.

During a recent Eternal Word Television Network program a Roman Catholic Lawyer who had once been a Mason, proclaimed that a founding principle of the United States is a Masonic principle, the one mentioned above. And that when this Masonic principle is adopted into law–as it was when the U.S. Constitution was written–it keeps Jesus out of civil government. And that the Catholic Church “wants Jesus to be able to inter into civil government”, in order to transform it for the better and ultimately bring it to perfection.

In the Declaration of Independence the founding fathers defined and declared their supposed “righteous justification” for committing treason - by renouncing their English King’s rule over them. And they also established an illegitimate sovereign nation on land they stole from independent indigenous sovereign nations. The founding fathers wrongly separated themselves from the Pope and their King and then established an unholy and illegitimate nation state, the United States of America.

Our founding fathers did not respect this land’s indigenous nations and peoples’ unalienable human rights. And did not respect them, because they were under the spell of Pope Alexander VI and the King of England’s 15th century evil propaganda, as put forth in the “Doctrine of Discovery”. I define this doctrine as being an indigenous peoples’ independent nations denying and land stealing doctrine. This doctrine was religious sectarian, Eurocentric, White racist and caused genocide and ethnocide to be perpetrated against this land’s indigenous peoples.

In 1823, the Doctrine of Discovery was quietly adopted into U.S. law by the Supreme Court in the celebrated case, [Johnson v. M'Intosh]. In respect to this Supreme Court case, Steve Newcomb, an internationally renowned legal scholar, wrote: “Writing for the unanimous court, Chief Justice John Marshall observed that Christian European nations had assumed ‘ultimate dominion’ over the lands of America during the Age of Discovery, and that–upon ‘discovery’–the Indians had lost ‘their rights to complete sovereignty, as independent nations,’ and only retained a right of ‘occupancy’ in their lands. In other words, Indian nations were subject to the ultimate authority of the first nation of Christendom to claim possession of a given region of Indian lands.” (ref.)

“According to Marshall, the United States–upon winning its independence in 1776–became a successor nation to the right of ‘discovery’ and acquired the power of ‘dominion’ from Great Britain. Of course, when Marshall first defined the principle of ‘discovery,’ he used language phrased in such a way that it drew attention away from its religious bias, stating that ‘discovery gave title to the government, by whose subject, or by whose authority, the discovery was made, against all other European governments.’”

“However, when discussing legal precedent to support the court’s findings, Marshall specifically cited the English charter issued to the explorer John Cabot, in order to document England’s ‘complete recognition’ of the Doctrine of Discovery. Then, paraphrasing the language of the charter, Marshall noted that Cabot was authorized to take possession of lands, ‘notwithstanding the occupancy of the natives, who were heathens, and, at the same time, admitting the prior title of any Christian people who may have made a previous discovery.’”

Ironically, the same year that the Johnson v. McIntosh decision was handed down, founding father James Madison wrote: “Religion is not in the purview of human government. Religion is essentially distinct from civil government, and exempt from its cognizance; a connection between them is injurious to both.” (ref.)

Most of us were taught growing up that the United States Constitution is designed to keep church and state apart. However, contrary to what we were taught, with the Johnson decision, the Christian Doctrine of Discovery was not only written into U.S. law but also became the cornerstone of U.S. Indian policy. The U.S. government was bent on promoting the establishment of a particular religion [Christianity], to the extent that it denied the Native pagan peoples their fundamental human rights. And because of the present-day existence of Johnson v. M’Intosh (and subsequent laws based on it), the U.S. government still continues to show perference toward Christianity and disfavors as well as suppresses the full restoration of traditional Native religions. And does so, by not repealing Johnson v. M’Intosh and subsequently giving the Native peoples’ sacred homelands back to them.

Johnson v. M’Intosh is based on a Christian religious doctrine that is inconsistent with the Constitution’s–prohibiting Congress from preferring one religion over another–religious clause of the First Amendment. Johnson v. M’Intosh is therefore in violation of the U.S. Constitution. This U.S. law also violates three unalienable fundamental human rights of indigenous peoples living in this land. This is in violation of the Declaration of Independence as well as internationally recognized norms of human rights declarations.

According to the Declaration of Independence “all people are equal” and their–endowed by the Creator–”unalienable rights” are suppose to be respected. However, indigenous people living in this land are not considered equal. Because of their ancestors’ religious status at the time of their “discovery” by European colonizers, today’s Native people are still being denied [by the United States] their unalienable equality rights to have absolute root ownership of their homelands, and be recognized and treated as independent sovereign nations.

When it was legal to own black African slaves in our nation’s southern states, many U.S. citizens living in the northern states, including the President of the United States [Abraham Lincoln], decided to wage war against the southern states in order to save the Union as well as set the enslaved Africans free. And by doing so, show due respect for their–“endowed by the Creator”–unalienable equality right to be free people. The enslaved Africans were being denied their fundamental human right to be free people, and our nation set them free.

However, the indigenous peoples living in this land our still being denied three of their–endowed by the Creator–unalienable equality rights, or fundamental human rights. The right to absolute root ownership of their scared traditional/ancestral homelands, the right to be recognized and treated as full independent sovereign nations and the–freedom of religion–right to fully re-establish their traditional religions within their sacred ancestral homelands.

If we were to consider the indigenous peoples living in this land as being equal we would have to give their homelands back to them as well as give them due respect by recognizing and treating their nations as independent sovereign nations. And by doing so, we would be acknowledging that our “nation” is an illegitimate nation state.

How can a foreign people of a different race, language, religion and culture invade another peoples’ homelands and establish a legitimate independent sovereign nation on their land? It’s impossible.

When the Declaration of Independence was signed what happened to the indigenous people living in this land? The decisions that the earliest European colonizers (15th century popes) and the founding fathers made are why, after 500-plus years, indigenous people are still standing here trying to influence us to recognize that their nations are independent sovereign nations and our nation is an illegitimate “nation” established on their land, their continent.

Kevin White, a writer for Indian Country Today, wrote, in his July 25, 2008 article, Toward Indigenous Independence: “In the 1898 Curtis Act and the 1934 Indian Reorganization Act, the U.S. abolished tribal governments first and then required elected forms of governance with constitutions modeled on the U.S. to be recognized in the latter act - this despite many objections of indigenous nations and forms of governance that have existed since long before contact with the West.”

“Even treaty making came to an abrupt and permanent end by an act of the U.S. Congress in 1871 without any thought to existing sovereign indigenous nations’ positions, questions or consultation. I wonder what would happen if England suddenly and arbitrarily decided the 1776 Declaration of Independence no longer applied the way the U.S. did in 1871 regarding treaty making?”

I call for England (queen) and the Vatican (pope) to disavow and rescind the claimed validity of the U.S. Declaration of Independence that was used by the United States’ founding fathers–in defiance of England’s governing authority over them–to establish an illegitimate nation. A “nation” that from its birth denied the New World’s indigenous nations and peoples their– “endowed by the Creator”–unalienable human rights to absolute root ownership of their homelands and independent sovereign nations status and rights.

Our nation’s founding fathers declared to the King of England: ”In every stage of these Oppressions We have Petitioned for Redress in the most humble terms: Our repeated petitions have been answered only by repeated injury. A nation-state [Prince] whose character is thus marked by every act which may define a Tyrant, is unfit to be the ruler of free people.”

In respect to the government of the United States, have not the indigenous nations and peoples of this land been doing the exact same thing and receiving similar, and even more harmful, repeated injury ever since the establishment of our nation to the present-day? Is not our nation like a tyrant, and unfit to rule over this land’s indigenous people? People who would like to be free from our nation’s tyranny?

If the U.S. Declaration of Independence and revolutionary war is what freed the colonists from the tyrannical rule of an English monarch, what would the different indigenous sovereign nations of this land have to declare and peacefully resist to be free of the tyranny of the United States?

Resistance precedent: Proposed Oglala Lakota Constitutional Declaration of Independence…..The title of Birgil Kills Straight and Steven Newcomb’s proposed constitution is, Toward an Oglala Lakota Constitution - Statement of Basic Principles. Birgil Kills Straight and Steven Newcomb are the co-founders and co-directors of Indigenous Law Institute. Here’s the introduction statement of their proposed Oglala Lakota Constitution: We, the People of the Oceti Sakowin, have existed rightfully free and independent since the beginning of time. As a sovereign Nation, we are, and forever shall be, rightfully free and independent. Accordingly, we the People of the Oglala Lakota Nation have the inherent right to establish any government for ourselves. This is but an exercise of our inherent power and vested right of self-determination.

Another precedent: The Hawaiian Kingdom Government, a 70 member group of native Hawaiians, recently demand sovereignty for the Pacific island. They locked themselves in the Inlani Palace, one of Honolulu’s most popular attractions, and demanded independence from the United States.

Another precedent: Echoing the methods of the 1776 American Declaration of Independence, a small Lakotah native delegation of outsiders arrived at the U.S. State Department and produced a list of grievances–including the disappearance of their culture and the theft of their natural resources–before announcing that the Lakotah formally and unilaterally withdraws from all agreements and treaties imposed by the United States. This was a group of Lakotah outsiders’ “Lakotah” declaration of independence from the United States.

Canadian precedent: The MNN Mohawk Nation News Staff state in an article titled, Why Canada is not legally a state, that: “Before European ‘visitors’ floated over the ocean and stumbled onto our shores, we formed a federation according to our constitution Kaianerehkowa. The Rotinoshonni:onwe Confederacy is made up of Mohawks, Oneidas, Onondagas, Cayuga, Seneca and Tuscarora. The Rotinoshonni:onwe Confederacy never gave possession of any territory to any European people. So far Canadians do not understand or acknowledge that we never agreed to join their colonial regime or to give up our original law or nationality. The Rotinoshonini:onwe Confederacy has never been legally incorporated into Canada and remains independent.” The Haudenosaunee Six Nations are independent indigenous sovereign nations.

I said “YES”, and they were then displayed in the institutes October newsletter. This institute sends out monthly newsletters to a network of almost 3500 members.

This blog is associated with my Rum River name-change movement, as well as other activist initiatives of mine within the Dakota’s Mille Lacs Lake traditional/ancestral homeland. It is especially associated with my initiative to regain the Dakota’s sacred Mille Lacs Lake ancestral homeland, an initiative of mine that is presented in my article Regaining The Dakota’s Mille Lacs Ancestral Homeland, an article that is posted on the Mendota Mdewakanton Dakota Community’s website.

After sending my article Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations to Paul Gorski, a nationally and internationally renowned multicultural educator and social activist, he, with my permission, posted it on his MultiCultural Pavilion website’s digest forum. It was on his MCP digest forum that Amy Kasi first read the blog.

When requesting permission to display my blog in the NMCI newsletter, Amy Kasi wrote: "I think it would be a valuable resource for anyone interested in not only indigenous peoples but also the history of the US and human rights violations in the US."

The quote of mine that is displayed in the SPOTLIGHT section of the NMCI’s October newsletter reads:

Also, the Project Leader for the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Advisory Committee for Native American Partnering [Griff Wigley], recently posted a comment of mine, which includes a link to my blog Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations, on the Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission's Native American Minnesota - A journey of learning and understanding - blog site.

An internationally renowned Indigenous activist recently contacted me and said that my article Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations “is a very good article”.

This blog was also posted on the My Two Beads Worth website as well as on the popular website Indigenous Peoples Literature.

Reverend Dave Gallus, a Roman Catholic pastor of mine as well as a member of the Mille Lacs Human Rights Commission, and I recently met at Wahkon, Minnesota’s Sacred Heart Church, a Catholic Church located on the south end of Mille Lacs Lake, to talk about my blog Independent Indigenous Sovereign Nations.

For many years, two of the three pastors of Sacred Heart Church in Wahkon were missionaries to the Asmat, a primitive tribal people living deep in the jungle of Indonesia. During a recent homely, one of these two missionary priests [Rev. Greg Poser] spoke about an Act of the U. S. Congress that legalized and implemented the taking of communally owned tribal land and dividing it up and allotting it to individual Natives. He then said that he and Rev. Dave Gallus had been talking about how most people living in this land [mistakenly] believe that living in an individualistic society and having individual ownership of land is the civilized way to live and that the tribal way of life is uncivilized.

He then said that owning land communally is the right way to go and that the tribal way is the civilized way. Evidently, Rev. Dave Gallus and Rev. Greg Poster have decided to promote my mission to influence the people of the dominate culture to assimilate into the tribal way, to look at Indigenous cultures and harmonize with them in order to survive and prosper as a civilized people.

Pope’s remarks whitewashed the genocide of Indigenous Peoples

On May 9, 2007 Pope Benedict XVI arrived in Brazil for his first visit as pope to Latin America, where more than half of all Catholics live. During his visit he made perverse and morally obscene remarks which described the genocidal destruction of the Western Hemisphere’s pre-Columbus cultures as a “purifying” act which gave the indigenous peoples just what they were “longing” for. His historical revisionism whitewashes genocide, ethnocide, slavery, land theft, and the continuing subjugation of Indigenous Peoples.

The Pope declared that “the nations of Latin America and the Caribbean” were “silently longing” to receive Christ as their savior. Colonization by Spain and Portugal was not a conquest, but rather an “adoption” of the Indians through baptism, making their cultures “fruitful” and “purifying” them. Accordingly, “the proclamation of Jesus and of his Gospel did not at any point involve an alienation of the pre-Columbian cultures, nor was it the imposition of a foreign culture.”

In a United Nations World Conference against Racism document there are statements that radically contradict the Pope’s remarks. “Historians and academics agree that the colonization of the New World saw extreme expressions of racism - massacres, forced-march relocations, the ‘Indian wars’, death by starvation and disease. Today, such practices would be called ethnic cleansing and genocide.”

“In the fifteenth century, two Papal Bulls set the stage for European domination of the New World and Africa. Romanus Pontifex …declared war against all non-Christians throughout the world, and specifically sanctioned and promoted the conquest, colonization, and exploitation of non-Christian nations and their territories. Inter Caetera ….officially established Christian dominion over the New World. It called for the subjugation of the native inhabitants and their territories,….”

“The Papal Bulls have never been revoked, although indigenous representatives have asked the Vatican to consider doing so. These ‘doctrines of discovery’ provided the basis for both the ‘law of nations’ and subsequent international law. Thus, they allowed Christian nations to claim ‘unoccupied lands’ (terra nullius), or lands belonging to “heathens” or “pagans”. In many parts of the world, these concepts later gave rise to the situation of many Native peoples in the today - dependent nations or wards of the State,…”

According to Pope Benedict the invasion and conquest of the Americas, which caused the deaths of upwards of 90 percent of the indigenous population of around 100 million, was something the natives had been pining for all along. They weren’t just “asking for it,” as some male rapists depict the women they raped. They were actually “longing” for it, since salvation and “purification” came with it. The Pope’s logic is similar to the following statement. If a man brutally rapes a woman and she gives birth to his child she should be grateful and thank the rapist for raping her since their child came with it.

In the wake of (1.)…the United Nations statements about the Roman Catholic Church being primarily responsible for the genocide committed against Indigenous Peoples, and (2.)…nation states such as Australia and Canada recently apologizing for the atrocities committed against Indigenous Peoples in their nations, and (3.)…U.S. Senator Sam Brownback’s sponsored May resolution which acknowledges a long history of official depredations and ill-conceived policies by the United States Government regarding Indian tribes and offers an apology to all Native Peoples on behalf of the United States, a resolution that is making its way through Congress, and (4.)…the U.S. Colorado state government passing a resolution in April which compared the deaths of millions of American Indians to the Holocaust and other acts of genocide around the world, and (5.)…the recent Minnesota Sesquicentennial Commission’s admittance that Minnesota committed ethnocide and genocide against Natives during its early history…the Pope and other high ranking Catholic officials are, unquestionably, looking at dealing with another upcoming big scandal, a scandal that will make the pedophile priests’ sex scandal cover up look like a drop in the bucket.

Hopefully, Pope Benedict XVI will soon formally revoke the 15th century papal bulls which were primarily responsible for the horrible atrocities committed against Indigenous Peoples and then lead the Catholic Church and Western “Civilization” through a process of radical transformation, and by doing so, lead humanity into a new age, wherein Indigenous Peoples will be given their due respect.
